Ascentis® C18 HPLC column, 3micron, 15cm L x 4.6mm ID
The Ascentis family of columns is the fourth generation of HPLC column technology from Supelco scientists. Ascentis columns are bonded on high purity, 100 Angstrom silica including 3, 5, and 10 micron particle size. Columns are designed for small molecule applications and are scalable from micro columns (1.0 mm I.D.) to preparative dimensions (50 mm I.D.). The family includes C18, C8, Phenyl, Si and embedded polar group phase,…

An item strongly recommended to be in the basket of an LC-analytical scientist.
Unique chemistry, very stable and long lasting tool.
Gives fantastic support in method development where certain analytes are challnging to get retained on silica bed.

Residue and Metabolism Chemistry
This column is durable and allows for good peak separation and resolution. It requires medium service but it is very reliable.

Foods
In my opinion this column is good value for money, it’s stable with reproducible results.

food and agriculture
Very robust. When some other brand name UHPLC columns have retention time shift issues with our agricultural samples, the ones we got from Sigma do not. Although the resolution might not be as high as the 1.7 micro ones.

Quality
When working in a QA/QC lab, reproducibility and precision are critical. To control the number of variables we only use Sigma-Aldrich columns. Their columns proved to give the best results during our column validation studies. For our application their columns are durable, reliable from batch to batch and reasonably priced. I would recommend this column to any looking to run the same application continuously. (We don't do much method development so I can't comment on how well they would work at separating unknowns.)

Produces sharp peaks.

The family includes C18, C8, Phenyl, Si and embedded polar group phase, RP-Amide.
The Ascentis C8 is a highly reproducible column with excellent selectivity towards polar compounds. The phase excells in highly aqueous mobile phases as well as high organic mobile phases.
Postcolumn Reactions Enhance Detection Sensitivity and Selectivity in HPLC Analyses
HPLC analyses of barbiturates can be done rapidly with little sample preparation. Detection, however, presents a set of conflicts, leading to increased likelihood of interference from other sample components. The application note demonstrates a procedure to form a molecular species from an analyte for which the detector has higher sensitivity, or to enable the use of more selective conditions (e.g., a different UV wavelength or fluorescence).
One-Step Triglyceride Separation by Reversed Phase HPLC Without Argentation
This application note demonstrates a rapid-one step process for the separation of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids in triglycerides. This method separates triglycerides by both acyl chain length and degree of unsaturation.
IP-HPLC of Risedronate
Risedronate, the active pharmaceutical ingredient in Actonel®, is a bisphosphonate drug used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. In this application note, the analysis of risedronate is performed on an AscentisTM C18 column using a Fluka brand ion pair reagent. When ion pair chromatography is required, it is imperative to use the highest purity reagents available that produce clean baselines and reproducible separations.
Determination of Bisphenol A in Drinking Water
This application note demonstrates the extraction and analysis of bisphenol A (BPA) from drinking water using HPLC analysis. The use of solid phase extraction sample preparation allows BPA to be extracted and concentrated.
