Application Area:

DNA fragmentation

I used the SPRI beads to generate fragmented DNA for a study that we were doing and I enjoyed the performance of these beads. Also, I like that these can be stored at room temperature unlike some of the other brands that I have which have to be kept at 4C. The results so far are really consistent operator to operator. However, at the time of purchase, it did take more than a couple weeks for them to actually arrive which was not ideal.

SPRIselect is a SPRI-based chemistry that speeds and simplifies nucleic acid size selection for fragment library preparation for Next Generation sequencing. In this process, size selection is required to produce a uniform distribution of fragments around an average size. Using SPRIselect, the size distribution can be adjusted to suit the application and platform used. The process can be scaled for low to high throughput workflows. Used manually or automated on a liquid handling system such as the Biomek Laboratory Automation Workstation, SPRIselect will provide rapid and consistent size selection suitable for most applications.

Features:

  • Tunable from 150 to 800 base pairs
  • Efficient mag bead technology eliminates the need for gels, chips or special instrumentation
  • Easily adjust for specific application and sequencer
  • Consistent results, reproducible sizing between runs and reagent lots
  • Scalable from manual to automated for highthroughput processing in 96-well plates
  • Proven proprietary technology is already the gold standard for purification steps in Next Gen Sequencing (NGS) sample prep

Gel-Free Size Selection Using SPRIselect For Next Generation Sequencing

Gel size selection for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) fragment library preparation has been the standard process for achieving size selection. Aside from being tedious, gel size selection creates additional preparation time for scientists forcing them to purify the desired fragment sizes from the gel creating a process that can only be low throughput. In this poster read how SPRIselect, from Beckman Coulter, helps to alleviate this problem.

Workflow Challenges. Solved.

iRepertoire in Huntsville, Alabama provides products and services supporting the study of the immune repertoire. The company’s patented amplicon rescued multiplex arm-PCR technology requires optimization of many intermediate steps to achieve a precision result. Optimization of these steps, and the final outcome, are greatly enhanced when using Agencourt SPRIselect for size selection, and to concentrate, clean-up and rescue RNA and cDNA throughout the process.

In this video, research scientist Katie Limbaugh introduces us to iRepertoire and how SPRIselect helped improve overall workflow results.
