Introducing Olink Flex: Cytokine Storm Panel

Cytokine storm syndromes can be triggered by pathogens or multiple immune events, and are characterized by dysregulated systemic inflammation with excessive levels of circulating cytokines. Circulating cytokine monitoring has emerged as a critically informative, noninvasive tool. Analyzing cytokine signatures, rather than individual proteins, provides a more detailed and accurate picture of the underlying biology. Here, Olink presents the Olink® Flex Cytokine Storm panel, which includes pro- and anti-inflammatory molecules that are frequently monitored and found to be elevated in this pathological condition. It also features highly relevant cytokines that are present at low levels, thus often absent in most commercially available panels.

Introducing Olink Flex: Interferon Stimulation Panel

While immunotherapeutic approaches have achieved durable treatment responses in certain cancer patients and raise hope for further advancements, a lack of response and acquired drug resistance continue to pose major clinical challenges. Understanding the intricate mechanisms of tumor immune evasion is key to identifying novel druggable targets, as well as biomarkers that could lead to improved response prediction and patient stratification. Blood profiling based on an IFN signature can be relevant for predicting and following patient response to immunotherapy. Here, Olink presents the Olink® Flex IFN stimulation panel, which consists of 20 protein biomarkers, including CCL2, IL15 and L6, which have been shown as relevant for predicting response to immunotherapy. These biomarkers may be important both for understanding the context-dependent role of IFN stimulation in treatment response, as well as for developing personalized therapeutic strategies.

Introducing Olink Flex: Immuno-Oncology panel

While the ground breaking success of immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, efforts to better predict responses and increase efficacy while reducing toxicity remain key challenges in the oncology field. Patient profiling based on blood biomarkers can have significant clinical value, due to the capacity of circulating proteins to provide real-time insights in a non-invasive, robust, and efficient manner. Here, Olink presents the Olink Flex Immuno-Oncology panel, which includes 21 proteins involved in various facets of tumor development and the immune response. Some of these biomakrers, such as IL8, LIF, IL6, TNFa, IFNγ and CXCL9/10/11, have been shown as clinically relevant for stratifying patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Circulating biomarkers application notes

In this application note, Olink Proteomics discusses the use of blood biomarker profiling to accelerate immunotherapy development. Olink also introduces the Olink Flex® Immuno-Oncology panel, which includes 21 proteins involved in tumor development and the immune response. Some of these biomarkers have shown clinical relevance in stratifying patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors. Blood biomarker profiling can provide real-time insights in a non-invasive, robust, and efficient manner for patient stratification, treatment response prediction, monitoring efficacy, and identifying immune-related adverse effects. Olink Flex technology allows for panel optimization and customization.

Revolutionizing biomarker research with Olink technology

Hear from Professor Guillaume Paré from McMaster University, as he discusses the critical shift away from the traditional 'one biomarker, one disease' paradigm. He advocates for a more dynamic view of biomarkers, particularly focusing on protein signatures that can support better disease understanding and therapy development.

Olink is paving the way with its PEA technology to support the analysis of 5–5400+ proteins simultaneously. By working with an Olink Certified Service Provider such as CRLB-GMEL headed by Professor Guillaume Paré, investigators are enabled to redefine the boundaries of medical research and gain unique insights into disease biology, aiding the identification of new therapeutic targets and biomarkers.
