CAS-MAP™  near infrared (NIR) probe provides a convenient and sensitive means for detecting activated caspases in vivo. The probe utilizes the caspase family inhibitor VAD-FMK conjugated to a near IR dye (780-VAD-FMK) as a marker. 780-VAD-FMK is cell permeable, nontoxic, and irreversibly binds to activated caspases in apoptotic cells. Apoptosis can be imaged in vivo over a time course with the use of animal imaging systems.
