Strata-X-Drug Solid Phase Extraction

Strata-X Drug B and N Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) sorbents are designed and quality control tested for basic and neutral drugs of abuse analysis, respectively. The sorbents are QC tested using drug probes from urine samples so that you can have confidence in your results. The sorbents also do not require conditioning/equilibrating steps, saving both time and solvent.

A great device for sample preparation!

Application Area:

Separation of the active ingredients from interfering excipients in oral solid dosage forms

I have found these SPE columns to be very effective when it comes to separating basic active compounds from neutral polymeric excipients as those frequently found in coated tablets. These columns deliver consistently high recovery of the active pharmaceutical ingredient(s) and are fast, reliable and compatible with automation. Excellent reproducibility.

The product works as advertised, however the customer support goes above and beyond

quantification of metabolites from tissues

First I received excellent customer support in selecting this product. I had a novel metabolite and I was not sure what the best chemistry would be to optimally isolate it from mouse sera and tissue samples. I first used the product selection tool on the company website and requested some samples based on the calculated suggestions. Since I had a few options, I had requested a few samples. One of the technical advisers contacted me and fulfilled my request and gave me additional technical advice. I never felt that there was any pushy sale tactics going on, the adviser legitimately seemed to want to help determine a solution for my problem. She later followed up to see if I was able to make the system work for me and it is this customer service that this product apart from the competitors. I could probably find something similar for about 10-20% cheaper, but the money I saved as result of the help I got, not to mention I did not have to waste precious samples, more than made up for any slight increase in the product cost.

Toxicology

We had used this SPE for the extraction of THC and metabolites from blood and urine. The main advantage is that it is "ready to use" without conditioning.

A Method for the Extraction and Analysis of Pentachlorophenol from Ground Water

Pentachlorophenol (PCP) is a toxic substance, identified as an endocrine disruptor. It exists in the environment due to its wide use as an insecticide, pesticide, and wood preservative. Additionally, it can also be formed from phenol and chlorine during the disinfection process of drinking water. In this application note, researchers utilized a simple solid phase extraction (SPE) method to clean up the groundwater sample, to isolate low-level pentachlorophenol using Strata-X polymeric SPE. A high-efficiency Kinetex 2.6 µm Polar C18 core-shell HPLC/UHPLC column was utilized for analysis, due to its enhanced polar retention.

A Superior Sample Preparation of Comprehensive Drug Panel Analytes from Oral Fluid Collection Devices

Drug testing in oral fluid has steadily gained popularity over other sample types such as urine and whole blood. One reason for this popularity is the easy non-intrusive sample collection procedure. Oral fluid collection devices often contain a device buffer, to prevent bacterial growth and increase the analytes stability during the sample transit to testing laboratories, but they may cause problems when performing LC/MS analyses. This application note presents a sample preparation procedure to significantly reduce the effects of the device buffer solution while maintaining a reproducible and consistent recovery of analytes.

A Rapid Sample Preparation Method of Comprehensive Drug Panel Analytes from Oral Fluid Collection Devices using Strata®-X-CW Solid Phase Extraction (SPE)

Use of oral fluid as a drug testing matrix has steadily gained popularity due to its easy and non-intrusive sample collection procedure. The oral fluid collection device provides a buffer solution that contains a number of antibacterial agents and surfactants which acts to prevent bacterial growth and increase the analytes stability during the sample transit to testing laboratories. Presented is a fast sample preparation procedure to reduce detrimental effect of excipients present in the buffer solution of the device.
