Thermo Scientific ARL PERFORM’X XRF spectrometer provides distinct choices of X-ray power for a high-performance, cost-effective solution in any application.

It benefits from a 6th generation goniometer, which is fully digitally mastered and provides the top speed, accuracy and precision, allowing fast analysis of up to 90 elements in the periodic table. Coupled with these advanced performance designs, the ARL PERFORM'X instrument offers the ability for small spot analysis and mapping of non-homogeneous samples or defects in specimens.

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis is a widely used analytical technique to determine the elemental composition of a wide range of samples, both solids and liquids, with easy sample preparation and non-destructive analysis.

  • Achieve desired precision and limits of detection (LoD) while also reducing power and resource consumption and sample preparation time with choice of power levels
  • Wide dynamic range (from sub ppm to 100%) and excellent precision
  • Easy sample preparation and non-destructive technique
  • Analysis of majors, minors and traces in geochemistry, environmental, petroleum and polymers, precious metals, specialty alloys, chemicals and all oxide materials
  • Integrated comprehensive sample changer allows large numbers of different samples to be treated fully automatically in mixed batches

Advanced Goniometer Technology

  • Precise digitally mastered technology for robust performance
  • Available with the exclusive gearless Moire fringe for all optical components in goniometer

Standard-less Analysis

  • The powerful OXSAS software and standard-less QuantAS and UniQuant* analysis packages provide simple and rapid analysis of totally unknown samples with no standards required
  • Large library of factory calibrations covering many metals and non-metals applications
  • PetroilQuant pre-calibration program, capable of quantifying up to 30 elements in a variety of fuels, light and heavy distillates and lubricants both quickly and cost-effectively

Advanced Features

  • The PERFORM'X spectrometer offers the ability for material composition mapping and quantification
  • Small spot analysis for contamination or defect identification and quantification
  • Industry leading liquid sample recognition and leak prevention design

Choose the best XRF solution for your application:

  • ARL PERFORM'X 2500W, high performance mid-power system: no external water cooling required
  • ARL PERFORM'X 4200W, highest power system: for the most demanding applications

Recommended for:

  • Geological and environmental applications
  • Petroleum products, polymers and chemicals
  • Materials science and forensics
  • Major, minor and trace elemental analysis in raw materials, glasses, ceramics and refractories
  • Specialty alloys, metals and ores
Application NoteEnvironmental

Analysis of polymers for environmental regulations

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations have set rules regarding the highest tolerable limit for certain metals (particularly Pb, Cd, Hg, Br and Cr). In this application note, Thermo Fisher Scientific addresses the environmental impact of plastic accumulation and the potential release of heavy metals during its destruction or recycling. The note highlights how WEEE/RoHS analysis can be performed using the Thermo Scientific ARL™ PERFORM’X series spectrometer. Its Protec-Ultra-Safe design, means that the instrument can completely protect the entire X-ray system. This feature is equipped with liquid cassettes recognition, insuring that no liquid cassette will be subjected to vacuum causing the sample to rupture in the system. The ARL PERFORM’X instrument is also designed with over exposure technology, which automatically ejects a liquid samples if the X-ray exposure time is too long.

Application NoteLife Sciences

Analyze aqueous solutions with the ARL PERFORM’X Advanced WDXRF Spectrometer

The analysis of heavy metals and toxic elements as traces in aqueous solutions is becoming increasingly important in view of the environmental concerns. In this application note, Thermo Fisher Scientific illustrates how the analysis of aqueous solutions can be performed rapidly and with ease using the mid power sequential XRF spectrometer ARL™ PERFORM’X spectrometer at 2500W. Limits of detection for heavy metals and toxic elements range from 0.2 ppm up to 1 ppm in 100 s counting time. The instrument is equipped with advanced features such as multiple primary beam filters, collimators, detectors, and a special X-ray tube for optimal performance.
