Augmenting Standard Methods of Measuring Airborne PM2.5 Using IR Imaging
This application note will demonstrate the utility and useful information that can be obtained by the use of imaging FT-IR microscopy for the cross-border study of particulate matter. The study was performed using data collected in South Korea, China and Japan.
Hair Spray on an Individual Hair Fiber
Examination of trace components on individual fibers is essential for the linkage of a victim of crime and/or a suspect to the scene of a crime. This application note describes an ATR microscopy method for the fast and easy identification of hairspray on an individual hair fiber.
ATR Imaging of Pharmaceutical Tablets
In this application note by PerkinElmer, ATR imaging measurements of commercial pharmaceutical tablets are developed. This technique shows a major advance in state of the art pharmaceutical tablet imaging. It provides an improvement in achievable spatial resolution compared with NIR chemical imaging, and sharper, generally easier to interpret images. The technique overcomes the major limitation of direct diffuse reflectance imaging in the mid-IR, namely problems with high signal attenuation and uncontrolled specular reflectance contributions in the image. It also avoids some of the limitations of Raman imaging such as sample overheating, potential fluorescence, limited spatial resolution (depending on Raman hardware configuration) and relatively long image collection times.
