"Tecan Hydrospeed(TM) enables high-throughput processing of 96- and 384- well plates. Overall it's a good apparatus for these tasks with reproducible performance, 4 liquid sources for plate washing and addition of reagents, and decent customization of each step in the protocol. Weaknesses are the large void volumes and reagent waste during the many priming steps."

The HydroSpeed washer enables full control of critical wash parameters, helping to maximize the efficiency of washing for cells, beads and ELISAs in 96- and 384-well format.

Its Cell Protection™ feature offers extra gentle cell washing with adjustable wash power, using drop-wise dispensing to avoid cell detachment. Tunable aspiration parameters, including needle position and vacuum level, help to minimize cell loss. For bead-based assays, the HydroSpeed’s patented design incorporates two powerful rare earth magnets per well for fast, efficient bead setting, complemented by adjustable vacuum level and aspiration position for optimized bead recovery. The Anti-Clogging™ function ensures reliable operation by actively preventing needle clogging – eliminating downtime due to blockages – supported by automatic initiation of wash head rinsing and soaking steps to avoid buffer crystallization. If necessary, easy exchange wash heads allow straightfoward external ultrasonic cleaning.
