The Freedom EVO Clinical series of automated liquid handling platforms delivers true benefits for clinical and blood bank laboratories.

This scalable system is available in a range of deck sizes that can be customized to accommodate different assay requirements and throughputs, with a choice of four- or eight-channel Liquid Handling Arms (LiHa), allowing flexible configuration for a variety of applications. The LiHa Arms feature integrated liquid level detection and are compatible with a wide range of disposable and fixed tips, guaranteeing optimal pipetting performance. It is even possible to use mixed tip configurations. To ensure the safety of your samples, an integrated barcode reader enables automated tracking of barcoded specimens, while an optional low disposable tip ejector helps to prevent contamination. A large safety panel ensures safe operation of the system, with the instrument’s operational status indicated via the fully integrated status lamp. The Freedom EVO Clinical is compliant with Directive 98/79/EC-IVD.

Multi-steroid extraction from saliva or serum using positive pressure SPE

In this application note, Tecan describes an automated workflow for high efficiency extraction of multiple steroids using the Resolvex A200 in combination with Tecan’s Narrow Bore Extraction™ (NBE™) microparticulate columns. This set-up is integrated into a Freedom EVO® liquid handling platform to allow complete automation of the extraction method – including aliquoting of samples, standards and buffers – and is intended to provide a generalized, proof of concept workflow that can be easily optimized for the analysis for other steroids or steroid-like compounds.
