Carboxen®/Polydimethylsiloxane (CAR/PDMS) SPME Fibers
Solid Phase Microextraction (SPME) is an innovative, solvent-free sample prep technology that is fast, economical, and versatile. SPME uses a fiber coated with a liquid (polymer), a solid (sorbent), or a combination of both. The fiber coating removes the compounds from your sample by absorption in the case of liquid coatings or adsorbtion in the case of solid coatings. The SPME fiber is then inserted directly into the chromatograph for desorption and analysis. SPME has gained wide spread acceptance as the technique of preference for many applications including flavors and fragrances, forensics and toxicology, environmental and biological matrices, and product testing to name a few.
Simultaneous Evaluation of Odor Episodes and Air Quality in Urban Areas by Multi-Sorbent Sampling and TD-GC/MS Analysis
In this application note, the presented methodology can identify compounds that cause odor episodes as well as their sources in outdoor air samples. An inventory of all potential emitting activities can be obtained, including not only nearby emitters but also sources that are several kilometres away. Air quality criteria can be applied to the chemical compound concentrations obtained with the presented methodology.
