The Refractive Index detectors include the optical system mounted in a precisely temperature-regulated housing to eliminate the influence of changes in ambient temperature.
The RI-4030 and 4035 detectors are fully stable just one hour after powering on. The RI-4030 can be used for both analytical and preparative scales. In preparative mode the maximum flow rate is 120 ml/min. The RI-4035 is a dedicated semi-micro RI detector with a micro-volume flow cell designed for use with semi-micro GPC analysis using GPC columns with a fine pore size.
The 100Hz data acquisition rate makes the RI-4035 suitable for RHPLC and UHPLC separations. The LED light source in both detectors has a long life time (over 10,000 hours) for low maintenance operation. Both the RI-4030 and RI-4035 detectors can be fitted with an optional pressure release safety-valve to prevent damage to the flow cell in the event blockage.
Analysis of sugar alcohols by semi-micro HPLC
In this application note, JASCO compares the measurement of sugar alcohols using a conventional refractive index detector with a detector optimized for semi-micro HPLC.
Analysis of Polystyrene Oligomers by Semi-micro GPC
Semi-micro GPC analysis has the advantage in cutting cost by reducing the consumption of mobile phase. Columns with smaller particle sizes and reduced column dimensions are ideal for rapid high performance analysis. The RI-4035 refractive index detector with small flow cell volume is optimized for high-speed data acquisition for use in semi-micro scale analysis, using columns with high performance packing material with smaller particles. This report shows polystyrene oligomer analysis, using a GPC column designed for high-performance analysis, resulting in a 30% solvent saving.
