The compact HydroFlex microplate washer is a modular, platform that is ideal for a wide range of cell-, enzyme- and DNA-based applications in academia, biotech, pharma and clinical diagnostics. This multifunctional instrument offers far greater flexibility than a standard microplate washer, and features user-interchangeable plate carriers to allow straightforward switching between key applications such as vacuum filtration, separation of magnetic beads and plate washing.
HydroFlex is ideal for automated washing of ELISAs, cells and protein arrays, improving assay consistency and reliability. For gentle cell washing, it offers individual control of critical wash parameters – such as the aspiration and dispense speed and wash head position – allowing the protocol to be fine-tuned to the specific cell-type used. In addition, for improved results with weakly adherent cell lines, a very gentle drop-wise dispense mode can be combined with a function optimizing the wash head position relative to the rising liquid level.
For complete automation of laboratory workflows, the HydroFlex microplate washer can be easily integrated onto Tecan’s Fluent®, Freedom EVO® and EVOLyzer® workstations – as well as other ELISA platforms- helping users to meet higher throughput requirements.
Animal Import/Export Testing: Routine ELISA Testing with the Freedom EVOlyzer®
The Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (CIQ) for Tianjin, China, is responsible for monitoring import and export of commodities, foodstuffs, plants and animals throughout the municipal area of the city of Tianjin. In 2008, the ADDL decided to automate ELISA processing on a Tecan Freedom EVOlyzer due to their increasing daily test demands. This case study demonstrates how the instrument is used for screening animals entering or leaving China via the municipality’s ports for the presence of infectious diseases.
Automated Washing of ELISpot Assays Using Tecan’s HydroFlex™ Microplate Washer
The enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot (ELISpot) assay is a very sensitive immunoassay, allowing detection of secreted cytokines at the single cell level.
