I found it very efficient and accurate, but it requires frequent practice
Application Area:Digital interpretation and micro analysis of samples
"It is a novel instrument for micro analysis of samples at molecular level. Really it is very effective, but as in this case very latest technology is used( being digital), so the scientific community is still far away and most of them are unaware about it. So popularization of this tool is very necessary. I have used only once and found it very effective as it presents accurate data in digital mode."

"The Nano Drop One is very easy to use; however it has some automatic steps where we would prefer that the machine waited for the user to initiate the next step. A real workhorse that saves time and sample!
Application Area:Quantitation of RNA, DNA and proteins; also to determine dye incorporation
"The main advantage of the NanoDrop is that it requires a very small (2-3uL) of sample, while still maintaining a broad dynamic range and sensitivity relative to a conventional spectrophotometer. You can measure one sample at a time or purchase the 96-well version that measures a plate at at a time. The only weakness of the system is the software is some what limited; for instance, you can not obtain concentration of protein if the extinction coefficient is known. Of course, you can calculate it yourself from the the A260. Other than some minor inconveniences, this is a workhorse in our department."

Great for use in biology student labs
Application Area:Measure concentrations of DNA and RNA
"We use the Nanodrop One in our undergraduate biology lab courses. Each semester they are used by ask many as 300 students. We believe that the accuracy and consistency of the readings is more than adequate for use in a student lab. The students find the Nanodrop easy to use and do not make many mistakes while using it. Since the student preps are sometimes "dirty", the Nanodrop is helpful in letting them know that their sample may be contaminated and what the contaminates may be."

Nanodrop is still best option for membrane protein quantification
Application Area:Purified Protein quantification
"For standard A280 measurements, the product works fine. We use on daily basis to quantify membrane proteins -- Measurements are replicable, but tend to be only qualitative measures (as are most other low volume spectrophotometric measurements). However there are major issues with utilization of the cuvette measurement; namely an inability to blank with anything other than water. Doing Bradford or A600 measures generates an error with the blank. Furthermore, we purchased with the cuvette so that media and dye would not be used on the nanodrop pedestal portion of the machine. This being said the nanodrop is still the best commercial option for quantifying membrane proteins but i would counsel against purchasing with the cuvette."

Well, this is my favorite equipment in lab (PS: we have a lot of equipment in lab ;)
Application Area:Measure Nucleic Acids etc...
"We have been using a NanoDrop since the beginning (I don't remember the beginning - could be BC...) and with the all new One C, NanoDrop moved it to the next level. It is so easy to use, takes just seconds to run your samples after you turn your device on... I don't think that I need to talk about the reproducibility and sensitivity of any Nanodrop, everyone knows. But this one has a wonderful user interface. Together with the PC viewer, the graphs are ready to use on your publications. I still could not manage to set up the wifi because we are working in a strictly safe governmental facility with high internet safety, but I will find a way to do this too. I am sure that will also be fancy :) I definitely suggest this little cute guy to anyone who is working with DNA, nucleic acids, bases etc... wherever you need a spectrometric analysis... You will see that you got more than every penny you spent..."

Application Area:Analysis of nucleic acids and protein from isolated pathogens for use RT-PCR, qPCR, and Immunoblotti
"This product is awesome, we use it on a daily basis. Even novices in my lab find the the instrument very easy to use as it walks you through the entire quantification process. In addition, I love the fact that it has a really small footprint in my lab. I also have a Nandrop 2000C which, while works well, has now fallen by the wayside due to the sheer ease of use with the NanoDrop ONE C. I honestly couldn't imagine my lab without this little gem."

One instrument, so many applications!
Application Area:Check DNA and RNA quality and quantity, assess cell culture OD, enzymology, protein quantification
"I love our NanoDrop! It is nice to only have one instrument taking up space that can do so many things. I use it almost every day to either quantify DNA or RNA and check ODs of cells. I have also found the Bradford settings really helpful and straightforward for quantifying protein when I have occasionally needed to do that and I was even able to calculate enzyme activity using the enzymology program it has. My only complaint about the instrument is that occasionally it "freezes"; however, this tends to be resolved with the faithful "turn it off and back on again" solution."

Good one but the previous one was better
Application Area:DNA and Protein
"The nanodrop is one of the most used instruments in my lab. It is almost used everyday sometimes several times a day. We use it for measuring DNA, RNA and Protein at absorbance 280 nm. A Huge Improvement over the Nanodrop 1000
Application Area:Analyze nucleic acids in various sample types.
"We've greatly enjoyed the new NanodropOne, which was a huge upgrade from our 1000. We decided to take advantage of a trade-in offer because our old device was giving errors and was unable to be calibrated. Since day 1 with this new equipment, everything has been easier. All the steps have been streamlined and it is beyond user-friendly. While we had both devices, I ran a few samples on both. While the 1000 had trouble giving consistent reads, the One can accurately measure the same sample with ease. If I had to pick one "fault" with this device, it's that I fear the touch screen could have issues down the road. That is the biggest change, as the old device was attached to a computer. We've had no issues at this point, but in my experience, the screens are usually the first to go. That being said, I don't expect any issues in the immediate future and I feel those issues are to be expected overtime. Overall, we are thrilled with this new equipment and would purchase again."

Good instrument.
Application Area:Analyse protein and DNA concentration
"This is a truly plug and play instrument. No additional parts or equipment is required. Easy to use, accurate enough for our applications. A presence of the Cuvette option makes it an ideal choice ."
The NanoDrop One/NanoDrop OneC spectrophotometers feature an ergonomic, standalone design with integrated Android tablet, eliminating the need for a separate computer and providing seamless data transfer via Wireless (if available), Ethernet or USB. Multi-sample processing is streamlined with Auto-Measure and Auto-Blank functions. bBecause of its wider dynamic range using auto-range pathlength technology, no dilutions are necessary for highly concentrated samples. The Acclaro technology enhances user understanding of sample quality while delivering accurate quantitative measurements.
