Maestro Z
Live-cell analysis system
Great for easy quantitative data on cell proliferation!
Analyzes Quantitative cell proliferation
We did a Demo on the Maestro Z for applications in Cultured Meat. Specifically we needed a system that was relatively high throughput, efficient, and quantitative without needing end point assays. One of the big hurdles in the cultured meat industry is the cost of media and our company aims to use our technology to create affordable media for growing muscle cells. We needed to test up to hundreds of different formulations as quickly as possible without much labor as a 4 person start up company. The Maestro Z did this wonderfully for us. One thing about the plates is that they do need a coating for cell adhesion which made it difficult to translate to our bioprocess as our bioreactor surfaces are not coated, but we got some interesting data from the machine and how cells interact with our various serum free media.

This is a very important instrument in the CGT lab.
Cytotoxicity assay, teer assay
This is very user friendly. Easy to handle once the instrument is installed. Also can check the reaction in real-time. This solves the problem of flow cytometer.

Good job
cell toxicity assay
It's easy to use in the cell toxicity assay. The results are similar to the CCK-8 assay. However, it need more cells to seed in the plates.

Great results!
Cancer Immunology
Quantitative data with a convenient mobile app. The Maestro Z provides a quantitative measurement of CAR-T cell-mediated cytotoxicity. The system is very easy to use, and it's powerful to see CAR-T cell killing profiles over time. The number of experiments you can run continuously with majority hands-off time is incredible. The mobile app is also great for making decisions about when to come into the lab when to add effectors, and so on.

Excellent machine, excellent company.
SARS-CoV-2 Research
We are a lab studying SARS-CoV-2, so we were very pleased with how easy it was to install the Maestro Z system in our BSL3 lab and start collecting data the same day. Setting up experiments is quite straight forward with the plate map editor that allows you to design concentration response curves in a few clicks. This along with the new Maestro Z App that allows tracking of my experiments on my smartphone makes for a very nice user experience. The Maestro Z assay is very sensitive allowing us to detect virus-induced effects within 24 hours after infection, much faster than a plaque assay. We also appreciate that the machine provides kinetic results with very fine resolution allowing us to watch as the infection progresses over time. Finally, the customer support we have received from Axion has been nothing short of exceptional.

Sensitive data on an easy-to-use system.
Immuno-oncology assays
The Maestro Z was incredibly easy to use, and demonstrated sensitive, real-time measurements of brain cancer cell proliferation and T cell cytotoxicity. The product is easy to set up in the laboratory space due to the convenient size and the independence from needing to place it inside an incubator. The software is very user friendly and allows for monitoring results as they occur as well as simple analysis upon completion.

User-friendly and powerful platform
Analyze cancer cell proliferation and migration
We found the Maestro Z to be extremely user-friendly with simple, yet powerful software. The setup was also easy and non-disruptive to other work since it does not require any space in the incubators. The system is very sensitive, detecting subtle differences in breast cancer cell migration to provide quantitative data for our work that was not as easily obtained with other methods. This is a great system for easily monitoring cell behavior in real-time.

Track cell proliferation, viability, morphology, and immune cell-mediated killing with the Maestro Z™. Axion BioSystems Maestro Z platform offers impedance-based cell analysis for real-time, continuous, label-free monitoring of your cells. Continuous data reveals the kinetics of cell-cell interactions and cell-drug responses for better mechanistic understanding without the time- and cost-intensive process of repeating multiple endpoint assays. Now with a smartphone app allowing you to check on your experiment from outside the lab.
KEY FEATURES
- Monitor your experiments from outside the lab — The new Maestro Z App allows you to check in on your cells and experiment to ensure everything is running smoothly while you are away from the lab.
- Precisely control the cell environment — There is no need for an additional cell culture incubator, saving valuable lab space and money. Maestro Z’s smart environmental chamber finely controls temperature and CO₂ while rejecting electrical noise and mechanical vibrations.
- Continuous cell monitoring — 96 simultaneous live recordings from your cells. The Maestro Z system performs noninvasive electrical measurements from the cultured cell population, circumventing the use of dyes/reporters that can perturb your cell model and confound results. Track activity over hours and weeks from the same population of cells label-free and in real time.
- See your cells — Maestro Z’s transparent CytoView-Z™ 96-well plates have a viewing window in each well, allowing for cell visualization and assay multiplexing.
- Start your assay with the push of a button — “One button setup,” means temperature and CO₂ levels automatically adjust on plate docking. Plate usage is logged via an integrated plate barcode scanner for convenient experiment tracking.
- Review your results faster — The Impedance module with AxIS Z™ software provides a simplified approach to the setup, execution, and analysis of experiments.
- Increase throughput with multiple Maestros — Continuously monitor multiple plates automatically and simultaneously with multiple Maestro support. Save space in your lab by controlling multiple Maestro systems using a single computer.
Multiplex your assay: Maestro + Omni™
- Platform cross-compatibility lets you view live-cell imaging alongside real-time, functional data to enhance your analysis.
- Monitor electrode coverage and cell morphology to ensure consistent, quality results.
- Experience no-hassle tracking — the Axion Portal automatically links data via barcode.
