Robust, Easy to use, Great software.
Application Area:Undergraduate education
"The Cary 60 is a robust system with excellent software. The support that you get from Agilent is top drawer. Accessories such as the fiber optic attachment have removed the need for expensive quartz cuvettes and have increased productivity. Highly recommended."

Great results, but we are looking for another company that can provide better customer service support.
Application Area:Potency analysis
"The instrument is simple to use, however service for the instrument is not acceptable. We had a software issue and our normal service technician was out of the country for training. Agilent took two weeks to find a service technician that could assist us."

"The Cary 50/60 UV-Vis spectrophotometer is a remarkable work horse piece of analytical equipment in our laboratory. Although the software is dated, the flexibility of doing automated sample injection, temperature controlled experiments with mixing in or out of the box measurements using fiber-optics makes up for software envy. I can still get manuals and brand new accessories or replacements off of ebay or on LabX, and Illumina, the latest home of the Cary line. I routinely use this instrument to run novel scanning kinetics and single wavelength kinetics as well as QCing incoming reagents and compounds. I have used 3-D printers to make alterations of doors, ports and cuvette holders for specific studies. It is the best spectrophotometer I have seen for its stability, ease of use, simplicity of hardware, ability to reconfigure and retrofit, and over robustness. "
The Cary 60 UV-Vis spectrophotometer has a wavelength range of 190–1100 nm that can be scanned in under three seconds. The system can be fitted with long pathlength cuvettes and solid sample transmission or reflectance accessories, and is ideal for remote UV-Vis absorbance analysis, when fitted with fiber optic probes.
The xenon source lamp has a 10 year replacement warranty (for Cary 60 instruments purchased from Agilent or participating partners), requires zero warmup, and causes no photodegradation of samples. Fast reactions can be recorded with 80 data points per second. The Cary 60 is well-suited as a routine UV-Vis spectrometer or for use in teaching labs. Optional 21 CFR Part 11 software tools are available.
