Cytek® Aurora

The Cytek® Aurora offers unprecedented assay flexibility and panel complexity thanks to our unique, full-spectrum optical design. With up to 5 lasers and 64 fluorescent detectors, the Cytek® Aurora can capture the entire emission spectrum from each fluorochrome. This makes it possible to now run 40 colors in one tube, a first for 40 fluorescence-based flow cytometry.

We might consider getting a second unit!

Average Rating 4.7

Application Area:

Multicolor phenotyoping

Excellent Engineering service and Tech Support. My team loves the ease of use and the ease of panel design for large panels and the ease of running 96 well plate samples. Would be nice to have it as a 21CFR part 11 compliant instrument and incorporated software that would let you do HD data analysis.

Great reproducible data and user friendly

Average Rating 4.3

Application Area:

Analysis of Immune cell profile and phenotypes

User-friendly and intuitive software. We are able to resolve most cell populations of interest, especially with the autofluorescence correction. Able to run up to 30 or more colors panel without too much headache in post-acquisition compensation/ unmixing correction and analysis. Generally, we need to use a lower concentration of antibodies as the machine is pretty sensitive, hence we save on antibodies cost as well. The passing of tubes can be somewhat slow due to the sitting flush in between samples (inevitable).

Amazing beginner-friendly flow cytometer!

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Flow cytometry

The Cytek Aurora flow cytometer has been an amazing tool for my osteoimmunology research. This instrument was my introduction to flow cytometry completely, and I have had a pleasant experience learning to use it. With the help of my mentor and our core staff, I have run into few issues. Further, the SpectroFlo software has a great user interface that is beginner-friendly and useful for optimizing a large number of antibodies in a customized panel. I look forward to learning more and developing rigorous protocols to get the most out of my studies.

Easy to use system that allows for a flexible approach.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Flow Cytometry in Neurology

Extremely easy to use system that allowed a more streamline approach to look at different protein subsets of particular cells within the brain. This system allowed us to verify additional data and added a unique look at existing data.

Game changer.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

High parameter flow cytometry methods

The Cytek Aurora is a game changer. It is of excellent value, has a small footprint, and can achieve much higher resolution, high-parameter data than conventional cytometers. Cytek has been a pleasure to work with in terms of both sales and technical support, and the Aurora is an extremely powerful and easy to use cytometer.

Review Date: 10 Jun 2020 | Cytek Biosciences

  • 40 colors in one tube, all with outstanding resolution. Well suited for high-parameter applications such as deep immunophenotyping and immuno-oncology.
  • Capable of running highly overlapping dyes together on co-expressed markers in the same panel (e.g. APC and Alexa 647).
  • Easier experimental design and more flexible panels with less spillover and spread considerations.
  • Extract autofluorescence from samples, improving resolution in normally problematic sample types (e.g. tumors, lung tissue homogenate).
  • Upgradable from 3-lasers (violet, blue, red) and 38 fluorescence detectors to 5 lasers (UV, violet, blue, yellow-green, red) and 64 fluorescence detectors.
  • Superior sensitivity and better resolution of rare and dim populations with Avalanche Photodiode (APD) detectors.
  • Ability to standardize setup and data across instruments and across sites.
  • Optional plate loader to automate sample acquisition using 96-well plates.

Studying B cell immunology with the latest flow cytometry technology

In this video, Carol Schrader, Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, discusses her research on the processes involved in B cell immunology that lead to mutations and lymphoma. She also explains how the Cytek Aurora flow cytometer, a core facility instrument, helps core users maximize the amount of information obtained from extremely small patient biopsy samples, and why this piece of technology is important for future research.

Investigating the Heterogeneity of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells with Spectral Flow Cytometry

In this video, Dr. Anna Brooks, senior research fellow and director of Auckland Cytometry at the University of Auckland, outlines the benefits of using the Aurora system in dissecting the heterogeneity of mesenchymal cells (MSCs) in adipose tissue. Comparing it to conventional cytometry, Brooks highlights the main benefits of this Cytek system as its ease of use, affordability, and its expandability to multiple lasers and over 30 colors.

Pushing the Boundaries of Inflammatory Research with Spectral Flow Cytometry

When investigating chronic inflammatory diseases, cell autofluorescence can prove to be a significant hinderance in progressing your research. Dr. Anna Belkina, Associate Director of the Flow Cytometry Core at Boston University School of Medicine, describes how the Cytek Aurora flow cytometer has enabled her researchers to overcome this problem and expand the scope of their analyses.

How Spectral Flow is Revealing the Role of Exosomes in Disease

Bridget McLaughlin, Co-Director of the UC Davis Flow Cytometry Shared Resource Laboratories, discusses how the Cytek Aurora flow cytometer allows her team to better analyze diverse samples types for a wide variety of applications, including immune response in infectious disease models, tumor exosomes in ovarian cancer, and exosomes in multiple sclerosis. Find out how the spectral system enables the expansion of biomarker panels and more effective biomarker detection in single cells.
