Synthesis of gene variants
I've used Twist for oligo pool synthesis and for cloning gene variants. Both services are competitive in deliverable times and pricing. Customer service is very fast and the representatives find the right balance in reaching out and maintaining distance. They also onboard vectors where you can synthesize genes into that vector and then send it to you - to allow for better time management on projects where cloning can be a major bottleneck.

Cloning of genes for downstream application
Twist Biosciences's clonal genes are spectacular. We had ordered clonal genes for downstream applications like protein purification. Firstly the service is prompt and one gets to know immediately if a sequence has errors or can be synthesised or not. Moreover, communication with them is super easy which allows one to have more flexibility in terms of ordering and making sure that one is ordering the right thing. The website has a very user friendly GUI and is interactive. The order processing was prompt and so far there are no reasons to complain regarding their service. The clonal genes came NGS verified which is an added bonus. One can also choose a variety of in house plasmids as the backbone for their inserts. Overall would recommend their services.
