For basically the same price as a nanodrop, the upgrades in technology and accuracy are a steal! Definitely worth adding a printer so that you can keep readouts in your notebook permanently.

Super reliable and easy to use
Quantification of nucleic acids and protein
We purchased the DS-11 Fx+ and have been really satisfied. The results we obtain for quantifying nucleic acids and protein have been fantastic. We routinely use it to measure protein in cell lysates prior to loading on SDS-PAGE. Our loading controls always look great.

DS-11FX workhorse
Quantification of proteins / Nucleic acids
My laboratory has been using the DS-11FX instrument for approximately two years now. We originally chose it based on 1. positive comments from colleagues and 2. design changes to the ThermoFisher Nanopore line that limited functionality and 3. Price. The DS-11FX is equivalent to purchasing a Nanopore and a Qubit reader which is significantly more than the purchase price of this instrument. Our instrument has seen heavy usage over the two years that we have had it (averaging 2-5 uses per day) for everything from standard A260/280 DNA, RNA and protein quantification to qubit Fluorescence quant assays for protein/nucleic acids. The options that are available on this make it far superior to the Thermofisher alternative and the lab finds it to be very intuitive to use. I have also been pleased with how durable the instrument has been. Graduate students are not the easiest on lab equipment and the DS-11FX still looks brand new despite the heavy use. The one concern about the instrument is the Android operating system. Over the past year, it has developed an issue where it will not wake from sleep after 1+ day plus periods of non-use and the instrument needs to be turned off and on again at the power switch before it will wake up.
