Best DLS system I have used so far.
Application Area:ATMP, peptides and antibodies
"I think it is the best DLS system I have used so far. The option to monitor both DLS and SLS at the same time is a big advantage. In combination with the well-plate based measurement principle it is a great screening tool. We use it for a wide range of applications: DLS temperature ramps, accelerated stability studies and high-throughput screening."

Ok instrument, UI a bit outdated compared to Zetasizer.
Application Area:Nanoparticle characterization
"Decent resolution for sub 10 nm organic nanoparticles. However, sometimes gives different results upon measuring the same sample more than once (without removing the cuvette). However, newer instruments seem to be offering concentration and MALS measurements in similar units."

A great addition to any protein structural analysis lab!
Application Area:Analyze proteins, often used as pre-cursor to SAXS
"We just got the DynaPro Plate Reader III and it is a great addition to our lab. Results are of high quality and reproducibility, all with an intuitive and well laid out user interface. The instrument is often used as a pre-cursor to or to consolidate data from SAXS protein analysis. We often work with small concentrations and the plate reader has a high enough sensitivity for our purposes."

My first choice for a quick glance in mAb samples
Application Area:Analyze buffer effects of mAb solutions
"The Instrument is very easy to use and highly recommended if you have many samples. If you are not sure how to use a special feature, Wyatt offers very good and helpful technical notes. The measurement of the A2 is reproducible. If there are too many aggregates in the mAb solution, it is very hard too reproduce the results. The after sales care is excellent! If there is a problem they will help you within 24 h. The value for Money is ok. The Instrument is very expensive but this is compensated by the good results you get."

This Wyatt instrument is great and I strongly recommend it!
Application Area:Protein stability in various buffer solutions
"The DynaPro Plate Reader II is a great instrument to use in your lab for quick and easy studies on particles in solutions. I use it primarily to help use select buffers to suspend and store our proteins. The end goal for me is protein crystallization and this DLS instrument has been involved with the crystallization of over 4 monoclonal antibodies. I would recommend this instrument to all working on similar projects."

Great Instrument - much better and faster than anything else on the market!
Application Area:Protein Formulations
"I use the DynaPro Plate Reader III for biophysical characterization and protein formulations. Our lab used to make DLS measurements with a Zetasizer which required a new cuvette and fairly large volume for every sample. Because the DynaPro measures samples in a well plate, the throughput is much higher, and the sample volume requirement is much smaller. In my experience, the data quality from the Wyatt Plate Reader is superior to other DLS manufacturers. Highly recommended!"

Convenient reliable DLS for protein biophysical and nanoparticle characterization
Application Area:Protein and VLP Biophysical Characterization
"The plate reader has been a very reliable instrument that delivers high throughput data with a quality close to the theoretical limit for the analysis. When used properly the data is very reliable. Wyatt does a good job offering training and technical notes to help scientists learn how to properly collect and use the data. Love the camera to check for bubbles, mis-filling or precipitation events. Within the expected accuracy and resolution of the method, the information on diffusion coefficients and estimates of nano-particle sizes are very valuable."

Huge time saver, able to generate data quickly under many varied conditions.
Application Area:Rapidly screen aggregation state and purity of protein samples
"This is the first instrument we go to when receiving or generating new samples in our lab- we quickly have an assessment on purity, which lets us plan our subsequent experiments. It is non-intrusive, and the sample can be recovered. Programmed data collection and temperature ramping facilitate rapid acquisition of data under multiple conditions."

Great high-throughput DLS Plate Reader!
Application Area:Analyze solution properties of protein targets.
"In using the Wyatt Plate Reader for our protein applications, we have seen very reproducible results over large time-spans (multiple years). The plate reader is very easy to use. After reading the user manual, speaking to technical representatives and reviewing the data interpretation guide, I was able to generate data quickly and reproducibly. The plate reader is excellent for high throughput applications in batch mode. The software is very user-friendly and I was able to start using the instrumentation quickly. The Wyatt technical team is excellent in both their knowledge and their response times. I am always able to get help in a timely manner that does not impede project timelines. Because of Wyatt's excellent service, I believe that any Wyatt product (including the Plate Reader) is a good value for the money invested."

Great instrument, true high throughput!
Application Area:Analyze nanoparticle sizes in water, biological, and environmental systems
"The plate reader is very easy to operate and offers a true high throughput analysis, which allows us to perform hydrodynamic size, size distribution, and agglomeration/dispersion state measurements for over 100 nanomaterials in a big variety of cell culture media and water systems. It generates data of high quality and high reproducibility. The built-in kinetics feature also allows systematic agglomeration kinetics measurements, which is essential in understanding the nanoparticle behavior under different testing conditions."

For routine use but not for challenging measurements.
Application Area:Protein aggregation
"The plate reader is easy to use but shows some drawbacks. Reproducibility is too low. We use the equipment in routine measurements but unfortunately often have to double check the results with the Mobius DLS. Temperature range, up to 70°C, is too low to characterize thermal (aggregation) stability. Equipment has shown already several breakdowns. The latest was because of dirty optics although it had hat just before a maintenance. It took quite long for Wyatt support to figure out what the problem was and repair costs were unreasonable high."
Manufacturer's ResponseDear Dr. Massant, Thank you for your valued feedback. We are pleased to learn that you use the DynaPro Plate Reader routinely as well as the Möbius zeta potential and DLS instrument. Since you are experiencing some difficulties, a Wyatt application expert will contact you in order to examine instrument performance, provide any additional guidance, and help you be more successful with your DynaPro. We are also pleased to report that the DynaPro Plate Reader II (a newer model than the one you own) is more robust and has an extended temperature range, up to 85C, which should address just about all of your protein stability needs. Sincerely, Wyatt Technology Corp.

Overall, good instrument with good support
Application Area:Analyze diffusion coefficients of mAbs in various formulations
"This instrument is extremely easy to use. For our purposes in measuring diffusion coefficients of various mAbs in their formulations, it suits our purposes. Our final goal is to achieve a kD value for each mAb, which is a somewhat qualitative effort rather than quantitative. For this reason, I have been less concerned with some slight variability in the diffusion coefficient results. Sample contamination is very common as well, which can lead to less accurate readings, so sample preparation becomes very important. Support from Wyatt employees, whom I have met through training and conferences, has been very good. Some slight confusion has been raised over which diffusion coefficient values to use in the generated data. This is due to multiple views of the data which each give different values. This has been slightly concerning, but not a show stopper for our purposes thus far."

Low volume and high sensitivity
Application Area:Antibody particle size
"I had a great experience working with DynoPro plate reader II to determine the particle size of my antibody. The great thing is about this instrument is a low solution volume needed for size determination with great sensitivity. "
The DynaPro® Plate Reader performs automated analysis of the size and molar mass of peptides, proteins, polymers, nanoparticles and emulsions using dynamic and static light scattering (DLS and SLS) in microwell plates.
All measurements take place in situ in microwell plates with no additional liquid handling, and samples are fully recoverable. The DynaPro enables novel, high-throughput workflows that simply would not be possible with typical cuvette-based DLS instruments.
