Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Analyze small molecules (DS and DP)

Agilent TRS 100 Raman spectrophotometer is robust and precise technology to provide accurate results. It has great value for money.

Review Date: 14 Apr 2022 | Agilent Technologies

Powerful technology with great opportunities.

Average Rating 4.0

Application Area:

Content uniformity (solids)

The TRS100 is a powerful technology, which provides huge capabilities with regard to quality control of pharmaceutical products (e.g. assay/content uniformity of solids). The included chemometric software is a professional tool with endless possibilities. The effort of knowledge and resources during method development should not be underestimated. But once it is done, the TRS100 represents a great alternative for classic HPLC analysis.

The TRS100 enables fast, easy-to-use whole tablet or capsule content uniformity and polymorph screening for pharmaceutical finished-product testing and formulation development. Easier to implement than other spectroscopic methods, Agilent's transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) technology allows simple method development and deployment for quantitative analysis in quality control applications.

A TRS100 system can reduce content uniformity, assay, and ID tests to minutes per batch, saving significant cost and speeding up your quality control workflow. Sample preparation and consumables are not needed, meaning skilled analytical resources are not required. Content uniformity testing methods using transmission Raman have been approved by regulators using ICH and regulatory authority-acceptable protocols.

Features:

  • Assay hundreds of tablets or capsules in minutes
  • Works with intact capsules and coated tablets of most thicknesses
  • No sample preparation, wet chemistry, or skilled testing resources needed
  • Quantifies APIs and excipients in a single measurement
  • Limit of quantification as low as 0.1% w/w
  • Quantifies polymorphs in intact tablets
  • Lean calibration models—easy to build and maintain
  • Methods approved by regulators
  • A range of sample trays and accessories for tablets, capsules, liquids, and powders are available
  • Built-in technical controls ensure the security of your data, control access, and facilitate compliance as defined by US FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11 regulations

Agilent TRS100 Raman - Quantitative Pharmaceutical Analysis System

The Agilent TRS100 Raman system is ideal for fast assay of tablets, capsules, and other dosage forms. Transmission Raman technology from Agilent enables simple method-development and deployment in QC applications. It is easy to implement in analytical laboratories and production areas, and has regulatory approvals for content uniformity (CU), assay, and identification (ID) applications.

Application NoteSpectroscopy

Quantitative Analysis of Warfarin Tablets Containing Salt-Form Impurities Using Transmission Raman Spectroscopy

This application note demonstrates the use of transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) for the quantification of Warfarin in whole intact pharmaceutical tablets at 0.5% w/w with 20 second measurement time. TRS can differentiate between and quantify two forms of Warfarin without sample preparation. Traditional chromatography techniques cannot do this as the form information is destroyed by solvation. TRS enables fast, automated, non-destructive quantitative bulk analysis of pharmaceutical oral solid dose forms for content uniformity and polymorph analysis.

Application NoteSpectroscopy

Quantification of Tablets Containing Multiple APIs Using Transmission Raman Spectroscopy

The ability to predict multiple constituents of a final dosage form in one fast, nondestructive measurement can reduce analysis time and cost significantly. This is especially beneficial when quantification of multiple active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) is required for tests such as content uniformity, assay, and identity (ID). This example, based on a common cold and flu product, demonstrates the quantification of five components (three APIs and two excipients) with a nine‑second measurement. Nominal concentrations for the APIs ranged from 1 to 85 % w/w.

Application NoteSpectroscopy

Quantification of Crystallinity Using Transmission Raman Spectroscopy

The crystallinity of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) may affect its bio‑availability and its overall patient efficacy. It is critical to be able to measure the crystalline content of a final drug product. Transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) can differentiate and quantify crystalline and amorphous API. Measurements are fast, and the transmission sampling geometry ensures that the signal obtained is representative of the bulk, and not biased to the surface

Agilent Beam Enhancer Technology for High-Speed Transmission Raman Spectroscopy

Transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) is a powerful pharmaceutical analytical technique for whole-sample nondestructive capsule and tablet analysis. This Application Note describes a measurement speed increase of >10x, without increasing laser power, using an Agilent beam enhancer. With an enhancer, the active pharmaceutical ingredient % w/w in tablets was determined in as little as 10 ms.
