SLB-5ms Capillary GC Column
SLB-5ms Capillary GC Column Application: The 5% phenyl equivalent phase provides a boiling point elution order with a slight increase in selectivity, especially for aromatic compounds. The low bleed characteristics, inertness, and durable nature make it the column of choice for environmental analytes (such as semivolatiles, pesticides, PCBs, and herbicides) or anywhere a low bleed non-polar column is required. SLB-5ms Capillary GC Column
- Application: The 5% phenyl equivalent phase provides a boiling point elution order with a slight increase in selectivity, especially for aromatic compounds. The low bleed characteristics, inertness, and durable nature make it the column of choice for environmental analytes (such as semivolatiles, pesticides, PCBs, and herbicides) or anywhere a low bleed non-polar column is required.
- USP Code: This column meets USP G27 and G36 requirements.
- Phase: Bonded and highly crosslinked; silphenylene polymer virtually equivalent in polarity to poly(5% diphenyl/95% dimethyl siloxane)
- Temp. Limits: ≤0.32 mm I.D.: -60 °C to 340 °C (isothermal) or 360 °C (programmed)
- Temp. Limits: ≥0.53 mm I.D.: -60 °C to 330 °C (isothermal) or 340 °C (programmed)
SPME for the Analysis of Agricultural Pesticides in Wine
This application note demonstrates the usefulness of SPME in the low-level extraction of agricultural pesticides from wine, and the use of the SLB-5ms in the subsequent analysis. The pesticides chosen for the analysis represent a group of insecticides and fungicides that could be found in commercial wines. These compounds contain a variety of polar functional groups, and the polyacrylate fiber provided the selectivity necessary for extraction from a wine matrix. The inertness and low bleed of the SLB-5ms enabled subsequent low-level analysis of these compounds by GC-MS.
GC-MS Analysis of Agricultural Pesticides on the SLB-5ms Column
This application note illustrates the analysis of 29 different agricultural pesticides of different classifications and functionalities. The analysis was done by GC-MS using selected ion monitoring (SIM) to allow detection of all compounds at 100 µg/L. The standard solution was made in toluene to increase it stability and enhance response of some of the pesticides.
Extraction of Permethrin Pesticides from Spinach Using QuEChERS Methodology with Automated Shaking
QuEChERS was introduced in 2003 for simplified sample preparation in the analysis of pesticides in fruits and vegetables. In this article, permethrin was extracted from spinach using the Supel™ QuE 50 mL centrifuge tubes and following the QuEChERS procedure. Analysis was performed on capillary GC column SLB®-5ms with MS detection.
The Analysis of Resveratrol in Red Wine by On-Fiber Derivatization/SPME
This application note describes the extraction and analysis of resveratrol from red wine is demonstrated using solid phase microextraction (SPME) and GC-MS. The technique is shown to be highly sensitive, simple, and quantitative.
Development of an SPME-GC-MS Procedure for the Determination of Phthalate Esters in Ramen Noodle Flavor Packets
In this article, solid phase microextraction (SPME) is evaluated for suitability to perform the extraction of phthalate esters from the fatty matrix of oil-based flavor packets in ramen noodle kits, eliminating the need for GPC cleanup prior to GC-MS analysis.
Improved Recoveries and Lower Background for the Analysis of PAHs in Olive Oil
This study compares the Supelclean EZ-POP NP and two competitor silica gel SPE cartridges in terms of matrix removal and analyte recovery for the extraction of select polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from olive oil.
