This column is an excellent choice for PAHs/PCBs.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Environmental contaminants

We find Rxi-XLB to be a very valuable column for the determination of PAHs and PCB's using GC-MS, it gives good resolution of important PAH's as well as being one of the few columns in 30m x 0.25mm x 0.25µm that will resolve PCB28/31 and other critical PCB congeners. This allows us to run PCBs and PAHs in the same analytical run. The low bleed characteristics also allow us to reach low detection limits with good baseline stability.

What do Rxi columns mean to you? Three things:

  • Ultra-low bleed.
  • Exceptional inertness.
  • Reproducible performance, column after column.
  • Rxi fused silica capillary GC columns were designed specifically to be the best columns available, for exceptional inertness, ultra-low bleed, and reproducible retention and selectivity. In addition to outstanding performance, this combination of column characteristics assures Rxi columns will have long lifetimes. The Restek chemists also have developed a stable, reproducible manufacturing process, so that Rxi columns will meet your needs every time you install a new column.

Improvements in polymer synthesis and tubing deactivation enable us to make inert, stable Rxi-XLB columns especially well-suited for analyzing active, high molecular weight compounds with sensitive GC-MS systems, including ion trap detectors. Excellent efficiency, coupled with inertness, low bleed, and high thermal stability, make Rxi-XLB columns ideal for analyzing semivolatile compounds in drinking water.

Rxi-XLB columns are a great choice for semivolatile organics analysis by EPA Method 525.2. An Rxi-XLB column plus some simple adjustments to the injection conditions can greatly improve sensitivity for active and high molecular weight Method 525.2 target compounds. For this application, also consider a drilled Uniliner inlet liner, which eliminates contact between the sample and the hot metal surfaces in the injection port, helping prevent analytes from degrading in the injection port.
