Rxi®-1HT
3-IN-1 TECHNOLOGY with Rxi® columns
Makes my life easy as an analyst; only gripe would be the cost.
Diesel and motor oil analysis
The column is great. Low bleed along with high final temp makes it easy for diesel and motor oil analysis. The low bleed allows for a clean baseline which makes for clean looking chromatograms and reliable integration. The high temperature reduces the carryover between runs. The only down side would be the cost.

3-IN-1 TECHNOLOGY with Rxi® columns:
- Highest Inertness
- Lowest Bleed
- Exceptional Reproducibility
Rxi® columns are more stable at high temperatures than any other manufacturer’s column, resulting in higher system sensitivity. This low-bleed characteristic is the result of superior stabilization achieved by optimizing polymer cross-linking and surface deactivation technologies. Benefits of using ultra-low bleed Rxi® columns include:
- Increased sensitivity, for lower detection limits and better matches to mass spectral libraries.
- Faster system stabilization.
- Reduced detector contamination results in less downtime for maintenance.
Rxi®-1HT (fused silica) columns offer outstanding thermal stability; minimal bleed even at 430°C.
Fingerprinting Crude Oils and Tarballs using Biomarkers and Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Gas Chromatography
Petroleum biomarkers are “molecular fossils” that can be analyzed with gas chromatography to fingerprint crude oil. Fingerprints can then be used to determine the source oil for an oil spill or highly weathered tarballs. This application note describes the GCxGC-TOFMS analysis of 43 different biomarker ratios in several crude oils from various regions and also in tarballs that washed ashore on the gulf coast of Florida up to a year after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010.

Rxi® Technology for Accurate Trace-Level Analysis and New EZGC™ Software from Restek
In this video Jaap de Zeeuw discusses two new technologies highlighted by Restek at Pittcon 2013. Jaap tells SelectScience how the exceptional inertness and stability of Restek’s Rxi® columns makes them well suited to accurate trace-level analyses. In addition to discussing some of the other key benefits of Rxi® technology, including retention time stability and longer column life, Jaap describes some of the key applications areas such as pesticide, PAH and solvent analysis. Jaap also introduces EZGC™, Restek’s new software for GC method development. Interview filmed by SelectScience at Pittcon 2013.
New Low Bleed GC Column and Flow Meter
Watch this Restek interview at Pittcon 2010 to find out about new additions to the Rxi® ultra inert, high performance fused silica GC column family. The Rxi® 6-24 Sil MS increases the maximum temperature to 320oC with very low bleed and is applicable to mass spectrometry applications. A new Flow Meter and website launch are also introduced.
