Captiva EMR PFAS Food cartridges were designed specifically for the analysis of Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS) in food. The high matrix removal efficiency of Captiva EMR PFAS Food is ideal for various and complex food matrices. Agilent's legacy award-winning Enhanced Matrix Removal (EMR) passthrough cleanup provides comprehensive chemical filtration. Agilent’s unique sorbent chemistry and formulation has been specifically optimized and verified for PFAS analysis of food and animal feed matrices.
Two Captiva EMR PFAS Food cartridge types (I and II) were developed to cover the large variety of food matrices. Captiva EMR PFAS Food I cartridges are recommended for fresh produce and other fresh processed matrices. Captiva EMR PFAS Food II cartridges are ideal for animal origin food, dry plant origin food, and other complex food matrices.

PFAS food legislation overview
This resource provides a comprehensive overview of global regulations governing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in food, beverages, and food-contact materials. Covering legislation and guidance from the European Union, United States, and China, it examines evolving regulatory limits, monitoring requirements, and analytical methods designed to manage PFAS exposure and protect public health.
The publication also explores the analytical challenges associated with PFAS testing and reviews methods including LC/MS/MS, UHPLC/MS/MS, and isotope dilution techniques used to support compliance. In addition, it outlines laboratory workflows and testing solutions that help food manufacturers, suppliers, and contract laboratories meet increasingly stringent food safety requirements.

Measuring PFAS exposure to maintain safe food
As the European Union (EU) scientific committees are reviewing a proposal for the regulation of using PFAS for their non-stick, water-resistant, and heat resistant properties, it is crucial that industries get on board to be prepared for an increase in PFAS analysis. Learn how Agilent is working to automate the sample preparation for as many typical food types as is practicable, and is developing intelligent tools to improve data interrogation and reporting.
