Reviewers' Choice: Life Sciences Company of the Year

This year’s coveted Reviewers’ Choice Award for Life Sciences Company of the Year goes to Logos Biosystems, in acknowledgment of the consistently positive feedback it has received from scientists sharing their opinions via reviews on the SelectScience® website over the past year.

Life Sciences Video Interview of the Year – in association with The Scientists’ Channel

This year’s winning video ‘Early-stage diagnostics: How high-throughput sequencing helps Cambridge researcher accurately detect helminth infections’ is an interview with Marina Papaiakovou, Ph.D. candidate at the University of Cambridge.

In this video, Papaiakovou discusses her research focused on developing and optimizing qPCR-based diagnostics for helminth infections and reveals how high-throughput sequencing methods and technology from MP Biomedicals are helping her effectively characterize and understand helminth infections and their interactions with the gut microbiota.

"I am fantastically honored to have received this recognition. I am grateful for all my supportive supervisors for boosting me towards realizing results from ideas as I pursue my Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge. They have encouraged me to communicate to wider audiences about my research in understanding worm diversity to improve our diagnostics. Thank you to The Scientists’ Channel for allowing me to highlight the impact parasites have globally and for providing a window to my wormy world!"

Marina Papaiakovou, University of Cambridge

Life Sciences Application eBook of the Year

The Life Sciences eBook of the Year Award goes to BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES GmbH & Co. KG for ‘The essential guide to ELISA automation & reading’. This application compendium presents established ELISA automation protocols for a wide range of applications as well as best practices and troubleshooting tips.

Life Sciences Editorial Article of the Year

This year’s winning article is titled ‘Intracellular architecture: Creating a map to examine how cells are internally organized in space and time’ and features technology from Sony Biotechnology.

In this exclusive interview, Dr. Manuel Leonetti, Group Leader, Quantitative Cell Science at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, discusses his research focused on developing an atlas, called OpenCell, that maps the internal architecture of the human cell.

“I’m honored that the editorial about our work got selected! I’m grateful for the SelectScience team who managed to distill the essence of our work in simple terms while staying true to the complex scientific concepts. This is why science communication is so important. I’m glad that everyone can get to learn about our work scaling up cell biology and drawing the map of how the human cell is built.”
