Environmental and public health monitoring and remediation

Good performance column with low bleed and can withstand prolonged temperature bake. Long period of running with large number of analytes over 200 of them. The plus is the use of precolumn that over time of column trimming that allows for good control of column integrity without impacting on the stability of the chemical standards.

Phenomenex’s GC Troubleshooting Guide

This white paper provides troubleshooting support for gas chromatography (GC). GC is a common technique used in analytical chemistry, which is used for separating and analyzing compounds that can be vaporized without decomposition. This guide will explain how to deal with common issues such as bleed, drift, and noise through a series of systematic steps, which will lead to improved results and prevention of re-occurrence.

Fast, Accurate Analysis of Polybrominated Diphenyl Esters (PBDEs) In A Single Run, Including BDE-209

The study described in this application note demonstrates a new method of high resolution gas chromatography with high resolution mass spectrometry for quantitation of toxic PBDE congeners, using a Phenomenex Zebron ZB-SemiVolatiles column. PBDEs were formerly used as flame retardants and now known to be toxic, however levels of PBDE remain in the environment and are subject to bioaccumulation. Therefore, knowing the levels of PBDE in an area is important to reduce the impact on the environment, local species and our food sources.

Improved Analysis of EPA Method 8270D on a Zebron™ ZB-SemiVolatiles Column

EPA method 8270D is a complicated method with one of the longest lists of analytes. A laboratory running a minimal list will still have over 80 compounds and laboratories adding appendix mixes can have over 200 compounds in their calibration curves. In this application note read about improved analysis of the EPA method 8270D and that choice of column is fundamental in such situations.

Improved Analysis of EPA Method 8270D on a Zebron™ ZB-SemiVolatiles Column

This application note demonstrates an improved method for EPA Method 8270D using the Zebron ZB-SemiVolatiles GC column from Phenomenex. The key benefits of this method include, faster run times while still maintaining resolution of key compounds like benzo[b]fluoranthene and benzo[k]fluoranthene and improved peak shape of typically poor performing compounds like phenols and amines.
