Fast, Accurate Analysis of Polybrominated Diphenyl Esters (PBDEs) In A Single Run, Including BDE-209

30 Mar 2016

The study described in this application note demonstrates a new method of high resolution gas chromatography with high resolution mass spectrometry for quantitation of toxic PBDE congeners, using a Phenomenex Zebron ZB-SemiVolatiles column. PBDEs were formerly used as flame retardants and now known to be toxic, however levels of PBDE remain in the environment and are subject to bioaccumulation. Therefore, knowing the levels of PBDE in an area is important to reduce the impact on the environment, local species and our food sources.
