Experience the power of Thermo Scientific™ mass spectrometers without the hassle of liquid chromatography with PaperSpray. The PaperSpray technology combines electrospray ionization with paper chromatography to enable highly sensitive and selective screening of compounds from biological matrices. Targeted quantitation is accomplished with triple stage quadrupole mass spectrometers; alternately, PaperSpray is coupled to HRAM™ (High-Resolution Accurate-Mass) Q Exactive™ for identification of unknowns.
With PaperSpray, automated sample extraction from fresh or dried biological samples is accomplished with solvents. Only 5-12 uL of biofluid is required per complete analysis. The analysis involves depositing the sample directly onto a paper cartridge. The sample is absorbed into the matrix and allowed to dry, after which it is inserted into the Velox 360 system. The Velox 360 system loads the cartridge, deposits the solvent onto the cartridge, and positions the cartridge into the mass spectrometer inlet. The solvent acts to dissolve and elute the analytes of interest. A high voltage is then applied to the cartridge, releasing the analytes in an electrospray. This electrospray is analyzed by the mass spectrometer. PaperSpray benefits include the following:
