Sera-Mag Streptavidin-Coated Magnetic Beads and SpeedBeads exhibit high affinity and sensitivity for biotinylated target molecules, along with fast reaction kinetics, increasing throughput and precision for genomic and proteomic applications.

  • Available with low (2500 to 3500 pmol/mg), medium (3500 to 4500 pmol/mg) or high (4500 to 5500 pmol/mg) nominal biotin binding capacities to optimize assay development
  • Low dissociation constant ensures tight ligand binding
  • Low non-specific binding for greater precision and accuracy
  • Combines large surface area, high sensitivity, physical stability, and fast reaction kinetics
  • Even streptavidin coating for reliable results
  • The uniform, nominal 1 μm diameter provides high surface area and excellent lot-to-lot reproducibility.
  • Uniform, nominal 1 μm diameter provides excellent lot-to-lot reproducibility
  • Also available as custom manufactured beads
  • Sera-Mag Streptavidin Magnetic SpeedBeads can be used for applications such as DNA purification, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) library prep, 5’ Rapid Amplification of cDNA Ends (RACE), cDNA library prep, sequence enrichment of low abundance cDNA, automated immunoassays, immunoprecipitation, and protein purification.
  • Compounds that are difficult to attach to particle surfaces by conventional means may be amenable to biotinylation. Sera-Mag SpeedBeads and Sera-Mag Streptavidin-Coated Magnetic Particles provide a high biotin-binding capacity along with a strong affinity for targeted, biotin-labeled molecules.
  • The core of the particle is made by a free radical emulsion polymerization of styrene and acid monomer. Two layers of magnetite are coated onto this core, resulting in faster magnetic response times. The surface is then blocked with a non-surfactant, non-protein-based method, to help prevent non-specific binding of proteins.
  • Customized magnetic bead solutions that fit seamlessly into your workflows can be developed for a particular application, often saving you time and money. The product can be provided ready-to-use with little or no need for further modification allowing you to focus on your research. To learn more, please visit our custom manufacturing services page.
