No software for analysis, disappointing, badly though-out 'upgrade' from Scepter 2.0
Application Area: Cell culture
"As a long term user of the Scepter 2 we were hoping for more of the same from the Scepter 3. While Merck have obviously invested in developing the instrument (it has both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity!) there has been no accompanying investment in the software-in fact there is no analysis software available with the 3.0 version compared to the 2.0 version. This is a deal breaker for us as we want to: -easily compare/overlay histograms to see cell size changes during infections -get an automated readout for viability (we were using % of cells gated within a certain size range) both of which could be done in seconds in the old software and will now require tedious manual analysis if we are to continue using the Scepter3. While the Scepter 3 may be a great quick fix for cell counting for many labs without the accompanying software it falls well short of what we need for documenting our cell lines and cultures. Truly disappointing forced 'upgrade' from Scepter 2.0."
Upgrade your tissue culture room by getting accurate cell counts quickly, and recording results digitally. The Scepter™ 3.0 handheld cell counter combines smart capabilities with the Coulter impedance principal to hand you precise, consistent counts in seconds.
While other automated counters consume bench space and rely on object recognition software, manual focusing, and clumsy loading chambers, the Scepter™ cell counter provides true automation without the error that accompanies vision-based systems. With its microfabricated, precision-engineered sensor, the Scepter™ cell counter does all the work and delivers accurate and reliable cell counts in seconds.
The Scepter™ 3.0 cell counter demonstrates the latest enhancements in handheld cell counting technology, highlighted by:
Compatibility with More Cell Types
The Scepter™ cell counter is the only one on the market to accurately count particles as small as 3 μm in diameter.
Increased Cell Concentration Range
The new 40 μm sensor can count samples with concentrations as high as 1,500,000 cells/mL.
The Scepter™ 3.0 counter is part of your smart tissue culture room, with new features:
