"The Agilent Plateloc is easy to use when it works. Due to the nature of the technology, there are components that caused issues after a few years of use. We were under service contract so it was not an issue to have parts replaced but after a few years air leaks within the system seemed to occur."

"This is a mini workhorse that has paid for itself multiple times over. The PlateLoc lets you adjust the time and temperature of heat sealing, and therefore works on a variety of plate types. One caveat is that we tried using heat seal tape from a secondary vendor and had some issues. So stick with the heat seal tape that comes from the original manufacturer. If the instrument has issues, the instrument can be swapped with a loaner or a service representative can come onsite, helping minimize down time."

"This heat sealer is very easy to operate and maintain. The heat sealing allows for a very consistent bond that is durable at our -20C storage temperature. Some considerations are that this instrument requires an external compressor and the heat seal can degrade the well chimney over time. As a result, a stack of ~40 plates that have been sealed 10-20 times may one or two mm shorter than 40 new plates. This can create issues for top stacking robots such as the Twister or Orbitor."
