XPeel® Automated Plate Seal Removal

The XPeel ® automatically removes seals from a wide range of microplate types with the single touch of a button eliminating the need for repetitive, manual plate seal removal. The robust and elegantly-simple automated system allows for the adoption of the gold-standard operating model (sealed plates, no lids).

Unsealing plates.

Average Rating 3.0

Application Area:

Unseal plates

Needs a simpler way to replace roll and needs a bigger roll.

Works well when it works, poor reliability

Average Rating 3.0

Application Area:

Desealing of well plates in a high throughput manufacturing environment using an integrated system

When it works it is very good. The issue is that it is not reliable. Reliability decreases over time and the service is more about tweaking to keep it running rather than working to improve the product. There is nothing else like it on the market, so it is expensive too.

Application Area:

Next gen sequencing

Simple to use. Worked out of the box. Minor issues which were quickly resolved by a firmware upgrade.

The XPeel® automatically removes seals from a wide range of microplate types with the single touch of a button eliminating the need for repetitive, manual plate seal removal. The robust and elegantly-simple automated system allows for the adoption of the gold-standard operating model (sealed plates, no lids).

  • Eliminates the need for microplate lids, and thus improves sample integrity
  • Operates in either stand-alone mode or integrated into automated systems for fully-automated seal removal in a wide variety of sample storage environments
  • Minimises cross contamination, repetitive strain injuries and plate or seal damage characteristic of manual seal removal practices
  • The patented XTape® removal medium eliminates the need for mechanical removal mechanisms which can be prone to failure

PCR/microplate sealing and peeling for high-throughput labs

PCR plates and microplates usually require a seal to prevent evaporation, which otherwise may alter sample concentrations and impair repeatability. However, as microplate throughput increases, so does the risk of associated hazards and constraints.

In this application eBook, we explore the key benefits of automating PCR, assay and compound storage plate sealing and peeling for medium to high-throughput laboratories, from reducing cross-contamination and reagent costs, to freeing up scientist time and mitigating risk of repetitive strain injury. Plus, read how automating these routine processes can transform emerging biotechnology companies in our scientist case study.

Learn about the impact of automation for medium- and high-throughput laboratories:

  • The hazards and constraints of manual sealing and peeling
  • Overcoming these hazards using automated sealing and peeling instrumentation
  • Integrating automated plate sealing and peeling technology into your workflow
