Opentrons Flex® Automated Vacuum Module
Fully automated vacuum steps for your genomics and proteomics workflows
The Opentrons Flex Automated Vacuum Module takes vacuum filtration and purification off the bench and puts it on the deck. A plate-based cleanup that used to keep an operator watching every spin, dry-down, or manual manifold pull now runs unattended, alongside the rest of the protocol.
The Flex Automated Vacuum Module combines a fully automated vacuum pump, closed-loop pressure control, and off-deck waste handling in a single module. Use it for nucleic acid extraction, protein and peptide sample cleanup, vacuum-based solid phase extraction, on-deck bead and media washes, and automated waste handling.
On the Flex, the protocol drives the pump, moves the plate, and manages the waste.
Key specifications:
- Pump type: Piston-driven pump
- Flow Rate: 50.1 L/min (gas). Note: Pump values re-flect published hardware specifications. Operational performance is controlled by Opentrons Vacuum Module software.
- Vacuum range:
- Gauge pressure (mbar): 0 mbar (ambient atmospheric) to -881.31 mbar (maximum pump rating).
- Absolute pressure (mbar) 1,013 mbar (sea level ambient) to ~ 132 mbar (maximum pump rating).
- Fittings: CPC quick connect/disconnect fittings. Dimensions are:
- L-shaped fitting: 3.2 mm (⅛”)
- All other fittings: 6.4 mm (¼”)
- Output Power:
- 24 VDC, up to 5.9 A
- 140 W (maximum, with convection cooling)
