Mitochondrial respiration
It is a very nice kit for analyzing mitochondrial respiration.

The XF Cell Mito Stress Test is the gold standard for measuring mitochondrial function. Researchers use this critical assay to investigate functional differences among cell types and the effect of drug candidates, and to advance their understanding of cell physiology, disease pathology, and etiology.
The assay reports multiple key parameters, including basal respiration, ATP-linked respiration and spare respiratory capacity (SRC). The SRC metric is often used to evaluate the cells ability to meet an energetic challenge as cells go through activation, differentiation and/or proliferation, and has been implicated in cell fate determination.
Features:
- Each kit contains sufficient materials for performing 6 full plate assays
- Compounds included in the kits are reconstituted directly in assay medium – eliminating the need for DMSO or other solvents.
- Kits are rigorously tested and validated for every lot with cells to deliver consistent and robust results – eliminating the cost associated with failed experiments.
- Data analysis tool, the Seahorse XF Cell Mito Stress Test Report Generator, is provided to simplify and transform raw data into organized, shareable summary reports anyone can understand.

Assessing Therapies for Traumatic Brain or Spinal Cord Injuries
A recent study published by Dohi et al. (2014) examined the effects of molecular hydrogen given in drinking water, using a traumatic brain injury (TBI) animal model and conditionally immortalized mouse cerebral pericyte cells (ImBPC). Dohi et al. used a Seahorse Bioscience XF24 Extracellular Flux Analyzer to measure the changes in mitochondrial respiration using the XF Cell Mito Stress Test and the results of the study are summarized here.
