undergraduate practical lab courses
We are teaching hundreds of undergrad students per semester in basic biochemical lab techniques. For them we were looking for an affordable and versatile option to measure microtiter plate absorbances. We now have 6 of the SPECTROstar nano with integrates cuvette option and they are all we were hoping for. Affordable: best prize on the market and the offer was extended over the two year period we needed to raise the money for the last three instruments. Easy to use: after only one or two measurements the students use them on their own – and correctly! Additionally, research groups in the house will borrow the instruments as soon as the student courses are done to do their research experiments. Service: in the beginning we had some issues with the software programming and the technical support was always there to help within 24h. They did not send standard emails but really took us seriously and answered our questions – so the problems were resolved very quickly.

Versatile, easy to use microplate reader with excellent support
Teaching basic lab skills student courses
We needed an affordable, easy to use but versatile microplate reader for our basic lab skills practical courses. This instrument has it all. One star less for ease of use, because we hoped to find an instrument with on-board computer; but a simple laptop fits nicely on the machine and can be set up for any purpose necessary. Support by the company was and continues to be excellent. User-problems are taken serious and answered in a timely, friendly, and very constructive manner.

THis application note describes the successful implementation of the SimpleStep ELISA® kits for detection of 3 relevant biomarkers: Programmed Death Ligand 1 (PD-L1), Interleukin-8 (IL-8), and Interferon Gamma (IFN-γ). Treatments targeting the Programmed Death 1 (PD-1) / PD-L1 pathway have seen successes due to the role of this pathway as an immune checkpoint. Beyond the immune regulator role, the expression level of PD-L1 in tumors, and in some instances, immune cells, has been correlated to the clinical outcome of blocking this pathway . In addition, both IL-82 and IFN-γ3 expression are shown to be modulated in response to PD-1/PD-L1-targeting treatments.
