Qscratch 20
Fully automatic macro/micro scratch tester for quality control of coatings and functional surfaces. Combines electronic force control (0.5–200 N), 8-position automatic tool changer, integrated optical evaluation, and QpixControl2 software for reproducible progressive- and constant-load scratch testing.
The Qscratch 20 is a fully automatic macro/micro scratch tester developed for laboratories making critical surface-related decisions daily. It combines controlled force application, precise electronic load control (0.5–200 N), integrated optical evaluation, and guided operation in QpixControl2 software for reproducible scratch testing with progressive or constant load. With motorized X/Y/Z axes and an 8-position automatic tool changer (up to 3 scratch test modules and up to 7 lenses), it performs overview, detailed inspection, and critical-load (Lc) determination within one test sequence. Failure events are classified as Lc1 (initial cracking/plastic deformation), Lc2 (spalling), and Lc3 (penetration to substrate), documented with a force-distance curve along the scratch track.
The system supports scratch testing according to DIN EN ISO 20502, ASTM C1624, ISO 27307, and ASTM G171. QATM's in-house-manufactured lens system with Koehler illumination provides microscope-grade image quality, and the diamond stylus can be visually inspected within the system for traceable test conditions. As part of QATM's modular platform, the system can be extended with optional Vickers hardness testing and Qpix Inspect analysis modules.
