Application Area:

Raw material ID

Not the best with CFR11 compliance so had to put a lot of internal control through SOPs. But is user friendly and easy to use, develop methods, and validated them. Great for material ID.

Detection of Homemade Explosives using Handheld Raman

As commercial explosives become more difficult to obtain, terrorists turn to producing homemade explosives (HMEs). HMEs are typically produced in makeshift labs using materials that can be easily obtained by the public. Because HMEs are synthesized under improvised conditions, the product typically contains impurities, many of which color the sample and produce fluorescence so they cannot be analyzed using previous generation 785nm Raman-based systems. Handheld Raman using 1064nm excitation reduces fluorescence interference and allows for many of these HMEs to be easily identified in the field with little or no sample preparation. In this application note, variety of homemade and commercially available explosives were measured with a handheld Rigaku Progeny™ ResQ™ 1064nm analyzer.

Pharmaceutical Excipients Identification with Handheld Raman

It is critical and required for pharmaceutical manufacturers to have quality control procedures in place to ensure incoming raw materials are both correct and meet sufficient quality standards. This application note explores the use of Raman spectroscopy as an effective and efficient technique for raw material identification, in-process analysis, and final product authentication, via the Progeny Advanced Handheld Raman Spectrometer.

Aseptic Identification of Polysorbates Using Handled Raman

Polysorbates are used in a variety of industries including food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals. Due to industry regulations and quality standards, it is considered good practice to identify incoming materials prior to manufacturing. Polysorbates are reactive to light and air therefore packaging is usually in thick, dark, amber bottles. This makes the identification process more difficult, as opening the container to sample could compromise the sterility and quality of these materials. In this application note, handheld Raman is used to identify these materials without any sampling or preparation.

Cell Culture Media Identification in Biopharmaceuticals with Handheld Raman from Rigaku

Cell culture media used for the growth of cells plays an important role in the quality and efficiency of biopharmaceutical production. Raman spectroscopy is a nondestructive, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective method to analyze cell culture media. This application note shows that Progeny Raman analysis provides highly detailed chemical information on a variety of samples and requires little to no sample preparation.

Rapid Detection of Counterfeit and Substandard Medicines with Handheld Raman

Counterfeit pharmaceuticals are a global problem and include not only products containing potentially harmful substances, but also products that contain no or diluted amounts of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). In this application note, the Rigaku Progeny handheld Raman analyzer is used to examine the chemical composition of authentic products on the spot, resulting in rapid identification of counterfeits and immediate removal from the supply chain.

Drug Product Identification Using Handheld Raman from Rigaku

This application note demonstrates that the Progeny from Rigaku could easily distinguish different API loadings and placebos for two of the three drug products (DPs) from clinical trials investigated. For appropriate DP formulations, the use of this portable and rapid technique could be applied to in-process control checks of packaging lines and subsequent post package verification testing of DP without transferring the DPs to an analytical laboratory.

Herbal Materials and Natural Foods Analysis with Handheld Raman from Rigaku

Dietary supplement manufacturers are required to use at least one appropriate test method to verify the identity of any component or excipient that is used in the manufacturing of a dietary supplement. The Progeny Handheld Raman Analyzer is ideal for identification due to its chemical selectivity. This application note demonstrates the advantages of using a 1064nm analyzer through the identification of two separate natural ingredients, turmeric and green tea powder.
