Powder Flow Tester for quick and easy powder flow analysis
The PFT Powder Flow Tester delivers quick and easy analysis of powder flow behavior in industrial processing equipment. It is ideal for manufacturers who process powders daily and want to minimize or eliminate downtime and expense that can occur when hoppers discharge erratically or fail to discharge altogether.
AMETEK Brookfield is now offering Shear Cell Kits with new material choices for use with their PFT Powder Flow Tester. The standard Shear Cell Kit includes a Trough and Lid milled from 304 stainless steel. Now these components are available in mild steel, 316 stainless steel, and Tivar.
PFT™ Powder Flow Tester Features:
- Minimize or eliminate downtime and expense.
- A compact design which easily fits on a workbench
- Choice of Test Options
- Choice of Flow Function Tests
Predict Powder Flow Behavior by Measuring Density
In this note, it is shown that systems that use the well-established principle of shear cell technology can measure the density of powder over several compression stages, and thereby predict how the powder is likely to flow. The Brookfield powder flow tester is used here in order to generate data that constitutes a flow function.
Accurate and Rapid QA/QC Tests for Powders: Bulk Solids Industry
The bulk solids industry has long been in need of a rapid, cost-effective, concise QA/QC test for benchmarked powder formulations. This application note describes an accurate test method utilizing shear cell technology in a timely manner.
When Powders Fail To Flow or What is a Normalized Flow Function
There are many traditional measurement methods for characterizing the “flowability” of powders. This white paper presents examples and benefits of the Shear Cell method, which measures the sliding friction between powder particles during flow.
Powder Flow: Powdered Milk
This application note describes use of the Brookfield Powder Flow Tester, equipped with Powder Flow Pro software for automated instrument control and data acquisition, to test the powder flow of powdered milk. A standard flow function test and then a wall friction are performed.
