InSphero Incubox™
The InSphero Incubox™ is a specially engineered container that creates a high-humidity microclimate inside conventional cell culture incubators and protects your sensitive plates from large humidity drops and fluctuations - the major cause for evaporation effects.
- Maintain a stable medium volume and accurate compound concentration due to minimal evaporation over time.
- Reduce well-to-well variation by minimizing evaporation-induced reagent gradients across the plate.
- Use all wells of your plate by eliminating edge effects in your culture plate.
- Save on plasticware by using up to 38% more wells of your plate.
Contains 1 Incubox™ with water bath, and venting holes for continuous gas exchange; built of transparent, inert, and temperature-stable material, non-sterile.
Dimensions: height - 210 mm, width - 350 mm, depth - 375 mm

InSphero Incubox product manual
This product brochure describes the Incubox™ system from InSphero, a humidity-controlled chamber designed to minimize evaporation in long-term cell culture experiments. Discover how by creating a stable microenvironment within standard incubators, the system helps maintain consistent media volumes and compound concentrations across microplates.
The platform reduces edge effects and well-to-well variability, improving reproducibility in high-throughput workflows. With the ability to accommodate multiple plates and maintain stable environmental conditions, the Incubox™ supports reliable 3D cell culture and drug discovery applications.

Incubox reduces edge effects and improves consistency in long-term 3D assays
This application note demonstrates how the Incubox™ system from InSphero reduces evaporation-driven edge effects in long-term cell culture experiments. By maintaining a high-humidity microenvironment within standard incubators, the system stabilises media volume and compound concentration across all wells.
In a 14-day toxicity assay using liver microtissues, plates cultured in standard incubators showed significant variability and compromised viability in outer wells, while those maintained in the Incubox™ exhibited uniform performance across the entire plate. This enables full use of all wells and improves reproducibility in high-throughput workflows.
