Terrible Instrument, Even WORSE Manufacturer

Average Rating 1.0

Application Area:

Flow cytometery

This product has been disfunctional since we purchased it from Beckman Coulter and Beckman has replaced nearly every piece and part they can think of 3 times over. Still, they refuse to replace the instrument. $300,000 for an instrument that hasn't worked since the first month we purchased it nearly a year ago. Steer clear of this instrument and steer clear of this atrocious company.

Great instrument, recommended !

Average Rating 4.0

Application Area:

Analyze phenotype in immune cells

Cytoflex flow cytometer is easy to use. For the instrument startup and end cleaning process. Although sometimes it takes a longer time to run the samples (depends on your sample too), but overall is good. We just bought a new one, so so far not much mechanic issue yet. Service people is very well communication too.

Application Area:

Flow cytometry

Beckman Coulter’s flow cytometry “The CytoFLEX” is very easy to handle, a compact system and it has optimal excitation and emission, minimize light loss, and maximizes sensitivity. It is also not expensive, approximately $200,000 USD. It is used for the qualitative and quantitative measurement of biological and physical properties of cells. The start-up of the instrument is very easy and its software is extremely user-friendly. You can run your sample in a tube, band use the 96 well plate to acquire your samples. Your files will save in fcs and you can analyze them in FlowJo. If you are not a FlowJo user, then use CytExpert for CytoFLEX Acquisition and Analysis Software without internet connection. Service from Beckman Coulter is excellent. You will feel excellent once you see that your data is high quality and reproducible. I would strongly recommend CytoFlex for research use. You would experience its quality by yourself.

High-Recovery and High-Purity Data Analysis Strategies for Rare Abnormal Plasma Cell Event

Rare event cytometry faces the challenge of abundancy of non-target events and heterogeneity that may overlap with hallmark features of the target cells. However, this challenge can be resolved by using highly discriminative antibody panels with high-recovery gating strategies, robust plausibility checks and effective gate purification steps. Such a methodology is demonstrated in the application note below.

Counting Eschericia coli Using the CytoFLEX Research Flow Cytometer

Escherichia coli are bacteria which can be found in foods, the environment and within the intestine of living organisms. Particular strains of E.coli can cause illness. In this application note, a quick protocol to enumerate bacteria in a sample using the CytoFLEX flow cytometer is presented. The range of resolution can support the identification of bacteria by forward and side scatter parameters and does not require any fluorescent dyes or counting beads to enable detection or enumeration.

A Novel Assay Based on the Expression of ILT-3 (CD85k) by the 2 Major Circulating DC Subsets: Performance Validation

Peripheral blood dendritic cells (PBDC) can be subdivided into two main cell types, namely myeloid DC (MDC) or DC1, and plasmacytoid DC (PDC) or DC2. PBDC are defined as lineage negative cells, i.e lacking markers for T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, NK cells and monocytes/macrophages, while expressing high levels of HLADR. However, the lack of consensus on what markers should be used in this complicated “lineage” cocktail is an issue for comparison among studies, and raises the need for a more consensual approach to PBDC identification. This poster demonstrates a simple approach for MDC and PDC identification in whole blood samples using the restricted expression pattern of the ILT3 molecule.

6 Color Panel for Staining Human Peripheral Blood Lymphocytes

This application note describes immunophenotypic analysis of human peripheral blood lymphocytes utilizing a 6-color antibody panel in a stain/lyse protocol run on the CytoFLEX Research Flow Cytometer. The markers chosen are commonly used surface CD antigens which can be used to quantify and characterize normal and abnormal lymphocyte populations in peripheral blood.

CytoFLEX System Performance Evaluation

Performance testing of cytometry instruments is utilized to characterize the capability of the cytometer to perform high complexity applications. Presented in this scientific poster is the performance analysis of the CytoFLEX flow cytometer, tested against measurements for sensitivity, dynamic range, population resolution, linearity, stability, reproducibility, and small particle resolution. Commercially available bead standards were used to evaluate performance expectations across multiple parameters.

Advanced Analysis of Human T Cell Subsets on the Cytoflex Flow Cytometer using Duraclone Dry Reagent Technology

Multi-color flow cytometry is a powerful tool to analyze the highly heterogeneous human T cell compartment. This application note defines a 13-color tube which allows for the identification of major peripheral T cell subsets according to classical and more recent characterization criteria, with a minimum of sample preparation effort. T lymphocytes (T cells) form an essential part of the adaptive immune system and are therefore of major interest for the research community.

High Content Duraclone Reagents on the CytoFLEX Flow Cytometer: Instrument Setup Using the CytoFLEX Compensation Library

This application note explains the set-up procedure for use of a new proprietary dry reagent formulation that secures long-term fluorochrome stability while stored at room temperature with the CytoFLEX flow cytometer. Tandem dyes play an important role in high content flow cytometry. However, degradation of tandem dyes over time due to light and oxygen exposure as well as inappropriate storage conditions can severely affect their emission spectra and may result in the need for frequent compensation adjustment. Furthermore, manufacturer dependent spectral variability may occur in tandem dyes that could require lot-specific compensation settings.
