Washer is used for several ELISA diagnostics
The 50 TS microplate washer is absolutely fantastic! We were using the ELx50 washer for several years and recently upgraded to the 50 TS washer and 800 TS reader as the previous models were no longer supported. Mind you, the older models still are functional and work to specification. BioTek manufactures outstanding washer/reader equipment. The instruments are precise, easy to use, affordable, offer a range of user-friendly functions and is accompanied by brilliant after sales support thanks to Analytical Diagnostic Products (the suppliers of BioTek products in South Africa). The washer and reader we have is used for national public diagnostics for Leptospira spp., Yersina pestis, Brucella spp., and Bartonella spp. ELISAs at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases in Johannesburg, South Africa. The 50 TS has a rather wonderful touchscreen modality which we easily use to navigate our various wash protocols. Some of the sample types we use include serum from both human and animals sources which can at times clog washers, however the 50 TS seems to not have that issue (thankfully!). The washer readily decongests itself during our routine fuss-free maintenance procedures (rinse soak, decontamination etc.) which makes the washer really robust. The washer came with three wash/rinse plastic bottles for the different washe buffers we use daily. This is really useful instead of continuously making fresh buffers. The 8-channel manifold we have is perfect for our 96-well diagnostic platforms. Recently, the commercial kit we previously used to verify and validate our washers and readers on a monthly basis was discontinued. Thanks to BioTek and the internal liquid tests that are pre-programed into the washer system, we are seamlessly converting to the liquid tests to verify and validate our washers. This has made things extremely easy for us as our equipment and laboratory facilities need to uphold accreditation processes. We service the washers annually without any trouble thanks to ADP and any software related issues we have, ADP makes swift contact with BioTek HQ for assistance. Our issues are always taken care of in good turn-around-time. BioTek washers/readers are used by several laboratories at the NICD and around the country because the instruments are reliable, accurate, fast, easily upgraded and/or serviced, exceptional support and when required, easily portable. Thank you BioTek for the fantastic products and service we receive from the company every year. We hope to mantain this wonderul relationship with BioTek for many years to come.

I can't imagine our workflow without a plate washer. Nice instrument.

Have both a strip washer and a whole plate for large jobs. The EL50 is our go to washer for dispensing primary antigen, blocking solution, etc. Can be set up to minimize waste.

The BioTek plate washer has made running multiple ELISAs in one day possible. Additionally, it has reduced the amount of background in wells when using a multi-channel pipette to wash our ELISA plates.

Reliable and precise performance under extreme laboratory conditions.
Infectious disease testing
The 50 TS Washers have proven to be very consistent and robust under the austere laboratory condition at our West African clinical research sites. The ease of maintenance is very important since these washers cannot be brought back to the US for normal preventative maintenance due to the viral disease testing they are used for (Lassa and Ebola viruses).
