Good for samples with <100uL volume.

Average Rating 4.7

Application Area:

Targeted Metabolomics

With the progressively reducing volume of sample available for extraction and analysis of molecules in biological matrix, the instrument is effective for automated sample preparation. It might take a while to get used to how it operate. Once one has master that, it is worth the time as it ease the sample preparation and extraction procedure. One of the downside to the instrument is that it takes time to run a batch of samples, especially for a step that include other mini-steps like mixing, heating, syringe pumping, and syringe rinsing. On the other hand, one can load the samples and let the instrument run while doing other works.

Gravimetric dilutions with minimal hands-on time

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Workhorse for gravimetric dilutions

The 7696A Sample Prep Workbench is used for most of the gravimetric dilutions performed in the lab. Having a dedicated weighing station (which is not so common for liquid handling robots) allows for easy protein concentration determination. Runs perfectly well over night.

The Agilent 7696A Sample Prep Workbench automates many routine sample preparation steps for HPLC, GC, LC/MS and GC/MS. This significantly reduces errors associated with manual sample prep leading to increased precision and less rework. Because the 7696A is used offline, it can prepare samples in batches so they are ready for analysis. Simply load the trays into the Agilent GC or LC autosampler and start the sequence.

Detection and Measurement of Chemical Warfare Agents

The methods used for detection of chemical warfare agents (CWA) are dependent upon the specific circumstances in which they are encountered. If the situation is one where the identity of the agents involved is unknown, then the method must first be capable of providing unequivocal identification of the agent(s) present. This technical note gives an overview of various methods available for the detection and measurement of CWAs.

Product Review: Agilent 7696A Sample Prep Workbench

In this video Jack Cappozzo, Director of Chemistry at the Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) in Illinois, discusses some of the advantages associated with automated sample preparation, including less human error, higher reproducibility and reduced reagent costs. In addition Katarzyna Banaszewski, Senior Support Scientist at IFSH, discusses how automated sample preparation enables faster, more efficient laboratory workflows. Jack also talks about some of the key features and benefits of the Agilent 7696A Sample Prep Workbench.

New Analytical Sample Prep Workbench

This video with Agilent Technologies demonstrates the capabilities of the 7696 Sample Prep Workbench, a standalone device for automated preparation of analytical samples. It can perform dilutions, aliquoting, standard or reagent addition as well as vortex mixing and heating or chilling samples. Sample preparation is performed directly in the vial, which can subsequently be used in GC or LC, saving time and cost per sample.
