Validation of the iNSiGHT Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) Scanner

9 Aug 2024

The iNSiGHT dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scanner uses dual-energy x-rays to obtain highly accurate and reproducible body composition measurements. It offers a rapid scan time of 25 seconds and can accurately measure changes in body composition in small animal models. Explore the results of a study carried out by Scintica to evaluate the precision and accuracy of the iNSiGHT DXA scanner compared to established methods such as chemical carcass analysis, ashing, and scale weight.

The iNSiGHT DXA system is an in vivo Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA/DEXA) technology for preclinical research. This fully shielded X-ray cabinet is suitable for small animal DXA applications – mice, rats, and animals of similar size (up to 5kg). Efficient body composition measurements allow for fast scan times of 25 seconds. Combined with its low-dose radiation, it’s ideal for longitudinal studies.
