SFC Analytical to Preparative Scale Up of Similar Compounds with Torus Diol Columns: Separation of Benzoic Acid and Derivatives

20 Sept 2017

For supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) separations, the scaling strategy between columns of different geometries/particle sizes differ from that used for reversed phase liquid chromatography (RPLC). When scaling between columns, column pressure changes which affects the density of the SFC mobile phase. Mobile phase elution strength is altered, which if not compensated for, can mace SFC method scaling difficult. This is especially true for challenging separations such as that of benzoic acids. In this application note, Torus columns are demonstrated to provide scalable analytical to preparative SFC methods.
