Application Area:

For air-liquid interface culture of primary cells

Approximately for the last year, I have been using 12 Well-PET-1µm-TP inserts, manufactured by SARSTEDT AG & Co. KG for culturing primary cells in air-liquid interface culture. The cells growth and differentiation was as good as we could see on inserts from other suppliers. The inserts were more economical compared to other suppliers. The company local sales manager used to visit us to check the efficacy of the inserts and to evaluate it for a more improved version of it.

SARSTEDT TC Inserts are easy-to-use sterile inserts available in three sizes and compatible with our 6, 12, and 24 Well tissue culture plates.

In combination with these TC plates, the inserts form a 2-compartment tissue culture system enabling users to carry out a multitude of experiments:

  • The 2-compartment system provides a cell environment that is very similar to the in vivo situation.
  • Both sides of the membrane are TC treated for optimal cell adhesion.
  • Thanks to the suspended design cells can be cultivated undamaged in the well and the TC Insert.
  • Due to the asymmetric position of the TC Inserts, the medium in the well of the tissue culture plate can be easily changed.
  • The inserts feature an ultra-thin, microporous membrane available in five different pore sizes in a range of 0.4 to 8 µm.
  • Our range comprises membranes with two different optical properties – translucent or transparent.
  • The chemical properties of the PET membrane minimize nonspecific molecule binding.
  • The PET membrane shows a high chemical resistance, easily enabling a multitude of standard methods of cell fixation and staining.
