PURELAB Option systems from ELGA are the very best solution for producing pure water (type II)
They offer a wide range of flow-rates to suit your needs, advanced purification technologies to provide pure water on demand, plus microprocessor control for consistent quality.
Different laboratory applications demand different water purity levels. ELGA offers a choice of general laboratory grade water systems in the PURELAB Option range to cover applications ranging from glassware washing and the feeding of ultra-pure water systems to cell culture and media preparation. The PURELAB Option-S series delivers better than single-distilled quality, whilst the PURELAB Option-R and E series produce better than double-distilled quality.
Water in pharma and healthcare: Interactive quiz and toolkit
In this interactive document, ELGA LabWater takes you through four key areas where the impact of contaminated water can be catastrophic — whether measuring therapeutic levels of drugs in patient plasma samples or deciding to pass or fail a batch of API for drug formulation.
Reducing risk in HPLC / LC-MS therapeutic drug treatment and monitoring
ELGA LabWater demonstrates the importance of ultrapure water for HPLC and LC-MS/MS by looking at some key applications of HPLC in clinical diagnostics. Examine the challenges that are frequently directly related to the quality of the water used. Applications highlighted include (i) ISD monitoring and treatment, (ii) monitoring of anti-psychotic drugs, (iii) drugs testing in forensic toxicology, and (iv) measuring the circulating levels of antimicrobials in severe infection.
HPLC in pharmaceutical analysis: Why water purity matters
Water is essential to the pharmaceutical industry, as both a raw material and a solvent in the processing, formulation and manufacture of pharmaceutical products. In this white paper, ELGA LabWater provides guidance to help you meet the specific water-related challenges associated with HPLC and the different water types used in the manufacture, analysis and quality control of life-saving drugs.
Improving Fingerprint Analysis in Criminal Investigations
In this application note, discover a new sensitive technique for fingerprint examination allowing forensic scientists to gain more information - such as visualizing hidden fingerprints left on challenging surfaces or analyzing the chemicals in residues.
Inspired by Nature – Creating Innovative New Materials for Biomedicine
After a skin injury, our body normally triggers a complex wound healing process to repair the damage. Scientists are investigating the use of tissue engineering to mimic the body’s natural processes and help promote the healing of chronic wounds. In a recent study published in Carbohydrate Polymers, scientists create porous 3D scaffolds made of a naturally-occurring polysaccharide derived from crustacean shells and demonstrate their wound-healing potential.
Laboratory Water: A key Reagent for Experimental Success
Every day, scientists around the world are using water for a multitude of purposes. But the quality of this reagent is too important to ignore - contaminants and variabilities in laboratory water are putting too many results at risk. This guide shares ELGA’s expert knowledge about laboratory water and water purification technologies. Different levels of water purity are explored and some of the challenges around choosing what to use for a successful experimental outcome at the most economical cost are examined.
Charged Aerosol Detection: Application in Purified Water Analysis
In this application note learn about the application of charged aerosol detection (CAD) in purified water analysis. The primary objective of this study was to assess the suitability of HPLC and FIA (flow injection analysis) with CAD as a method for detecting the presence of non-UV absorbing impurities in different grades of pure water including type I ultrapure water.
Charged Aerosol Detection: Application in Purified Water Analysis
The primary objective of this study was to assess the suitability of HPLC and FIA with CAD as a method for analyzing the purity of different grades of pure water. Four different grades were tested: Type I ultrapure water, bottled HPLC-grade water, Type II pure water and bottled purified water.
Type II Pure Water Minimizes Interference in UV-VIS Spectrophotometry
This application note outlines the importance of the quality of the water used to prepare samples, standards and reagents for ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometric techniques. The recommendation is that pure water of at least Type II quality should be used to ensure the elimination of compounds which may interfere with the absorbance measurement of the compound or element under investigation. It was found that water used for UV-VIS analysis should have a resistivity > 1 MΩ.cm, a TOC of less than 50 ppb and have been previously microfiltered.
Optimized Ion Exchange for Pure Water
This poster presentation shows how optimizing ion exchange technology can ensure consistent, impurity free water for the lab. Jim Keary, ELGA Labwater, outlines the advantages of a twin cartridge ion exchange system and clearly illustrates this with the use of two studies. Interview filmed by SelectScience at Pittcon 2012.
