Accuracy and precision checks for liquid handlers

The MVS has been a great asset to my team's measurement capabilities for the past 10 years. We just recently purchased the newest version of the MVS. We had a lengthy delay in our PO process and Nate the Artel Account manager has been very understanding and has helped us the entire way. The system makes accuracy and precision testing for liquid dispensing very efficient. When we need additional supplies or support questions the Artel staff has always been top tier. We plan to try the new Artelware software and move away from the older Datamanger software.

Application Area:

Pipette calibration verification

The MVS had made verifications so much more efficient. It also enabled us to detect and issue with one of our instrument onboard pipetting devices. The customer service is great and using this system makes accreditation assessments much easier!

Time and cost saving in the liquid class optimization

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

optimize the liquid transfer accuracy and consistency across multiple liquid handling systems in a c

The manual guide of the MVS data manager software is well written and easy to follow. Without hands-on training, I can start and use the system for the volume verification setup . There are also webinars and white papers available on the Artel web page. After sales care, the application scientist is easy to work with, knowledgable about interpreting test data and giving advise, and flexible to help onsite if needed. I would recommend this Artel product because it saves time and material cost. Most important is having a standard method to calibrate different pipettes and optimize liquid class on automated liquid handlers while managing the sources of variability systematically.

Great liquid class setup solution with quality compliance in mind.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

NGS and qPCR

The product is accurate and reliable. With the addition of the pre-owned models of MVS readers, it also becomes affordable. The expansion of the dye solutions to include MasterMix and Serum along with their original aqueous offering makes Artel a definitive liquid class setup solution. The FSE performing setup and the account manager were on-time, responsive, and supportive during install and (most importantly) afterwards.

Great results, but nearly impossible to streamline

Average Rating 2.7

Application Area:

pipette calibration

I was very concerned when I learned how expensive the calibration cartridge was and that it only lasted approximately a year. Also the software is too rigid. In order to use this instrument, there is precise pipetting that is required and after the plate is created a substantial amount of time is required to input the plate information and then it must be run in an extremely precise and correct series of clicking of appropriate keys in the appropriate order. It is a 2 person job and most can not be trained to use it properly. I can use it but each quarter, I almost have to relearn it because it is not intuitive.

MVS system has been vital to our lab operations.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Routine high-throughput liquid handler qc, liquid handler tip lot qc, liquid handler calibration

The MVS system is extremely useful for periodic performance QC testing of high-throughput liquid handlers, high-throughput liquid handler calibration, and various liquid handler/single channel pipette tip type/lot QC. The MVS system requires minimal maintenance and MVS manager software is intuitive to use and flexible to set up various plate layouts to meet user’s need. The customer service is very responsive and helpful. They provide a notification for calibrator plate re-certification annually and all communications during the re-certification service has been excellent. Also, MVS solution orders have been processed in a timely manner, even during the pandemic related global supply chain issue periods.

Artel has worked out charm

Average Rating 4.7

Application Area:

Pipette Validation

Artel has worked out mathematics and process really well for the end user to perform pipette validation with basic knowledge. The whole process of testing a pipette for accuracy from start to finish is painless and easy even for a beginner/non-technically savvy person. Additionally, Artel shines at their after sales services and they make sure to bring all the resources to answer your questions. We had several concerns about the process and limitations of the MVS system specifications where we may fail meeting our standards and the scientific team was very apt to resolve the questions. Another area where I highly recommend Artel is the use of their PCRMix and SerumSub liquids. These are the mastermix and serum mimic liquids for pipette validation and can be cost effective alternative to the original liquids. The only con I felt was sales representative kept on constantly inquiring our need for over the year which may have been fair on the marketing part but irritating at times. Overall, the initial investment in Artel may not be the choice for every company but they are capable of delivering high returns in long run depending on yhe I industry you serve. the MVS would save a lot of money in automation processes and the Artel family will always make you feel contained. They are good people serving more or less a perfect product.

Improving automated liquid handling performance for serum based assays

Serum is a complex fluid component extracted from blood and is used in a variety of clinical diagnostic tests as well as biomedical research applications. Artel is developing a serum mimic solution with liquid handling properties that are analogous to several commonly used sera. This mimic will provide a serum-like reference solution that can be used to assist in liquid class optimization, volume verification, and calibration of automated liquid handlers. Artel MVS as a Tool For Measuring Liquid Mixing Efficacy in Microplates

Homogeneity of solutions in microplates plays a crucial role in assay effectiveness, yet is an area of assay method development and verification that is often overlooked. Without ensuring that solutions have been effectively mixed, it is possible for non‐homogenous samples to be used for subsequent assay steps leading to aspiration of very concentrated or very dilute aliquots. For assay results to be truly trustworthy, every part of the methodology employed needs to be assessed for efficacy and repeatability. This application note describes how the ARTEL MVS® Multichannel Verification System can be used as a tool for measuring the efficacy of liquid mixing protocols.

Optimizing Accuracy Performance on an Agilent Bravo Platform Using the Artel MVS

This application note discusses one approach for optimizing pipetting accuracy on an Agilent Bravo liquid handler using MVS® Multichannel Verification System measurement information. Although the MVS system supports verifying both tip-by-tip precision and accuracy values for nearly all liquid handlers the focus of this paper is accuracy measurement and optimization. This application note does not speak to the quality of volume transfer performance you should expect from any Bravo; instead it focuses on the optimization process only. This application note is intended to show that volume transfer accuracy can be improved by simply adjusting the calibration factors within the method’s liquid class, which is a process that also works for other liquid handler types.
