Immobilon ECL Ultra Western HRP Substrate

MerckWBULS0500

Immobilon ® ECL Ultra Western HRP Substrate is an ultra-sensitive reagent with long signal duration for the detection of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-labeled antibodies on western blots. The intense signal created permits sensitive detection at the mid-to-low femtogram range using x-ray film or digital imaging systems.

True to its name amazingly strong ECL, great for easy low signal detection, try it!

Application Area:

Western blotting ECL

I used to use this ECL years ago but have switched labs and they use the GE Amersham ECL (RPN2106) which works well, but is so much weaker, (not always a bad thing! Overexposed westerns are useless!) but I thought I would try the Immobilon reagent again with some blots that I have weak signals with so have optimized the protocol to boost a low signal as much as possible. I used my optimized signal boosting protocol and changed the ECL over and had glowing bands within seconds! This was clearly over kill and I removed the ECL straight away to prevent burning my bands, but I got an unbelievably strong signal in seconds in comparison to the GE product. I would highly recommend labs have both ECLs in the fridge, the GE one to be used regularly for strong signals, and the Millipore ECL to be used with those tricky low signals. Amazingly strong signal that I could barely detect with the GE product, give it a go if you have a weak signal, but beware you may have too much signal all of a sudden! Great for easy low signal detection or just titrating all of your ab and incubation times down. Try it!
