ICPMS-2030 Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer
Offering Outstanding Reliability, Exceptional Ease of Use, and the Industry’s Lowest Operating Costs.
The ICPMS-2030 is the first ICP-MS in the industry to include Assistant Functions that develop methods and perform post-run diagnostics. The system’s Development Assistant automatically selects the optimal mass and internal standard for the target elements, and suggests concentration ranges for calibration curves, allowing any user to develop reliable methods with ease. The Diagnosis Assistant identifies the presence or absence of mass interference based on qualitative analysis to quickly generate reliable results.
The ICPMS-2030 mass spectrometer significantly reduces operating costs utilizing Shimadzu’s proprietary technology. This includes a Mini-Torch system, which effectively reduces the amount of argon gas needed to generate plasma, and ECO mode, which minimizes the flow rate and power consumption during standby. The instrument can also operate on 99.95% purity argon gas, instead of the more expensive 99.999% argon gas generally used.
The ICPMS-2030 offers unrivaled sensitivity and easy maintenance, while suppressing molecular interference through optimization of the newly developed collision cell and internal ion path geometry. Standard benefits and features of the ICPMS-2030 include:
- Best-in-class sensitivity through effective molecular ion removal and efficient elemental ion transmission
- Nine orders of magnitude dynamic range with a secondary electron multiplier, enabling analysis of major and trace-level components in the same sample
- An off-axis lens configuration that eliminates photoelectric effects, optimizing the instrument’s compatibility with laser ablation systems
- Easy-to-maintain interface that allows all parts to be removed and installed without the need for tools, resulting in greater uptime
- Easy-to-maintain sample injection system and compact vacuum system
Culture medium analysis for a metabolic analysis of antibody-producing cells using LC-MS/MS and ICP-MS
Antibody drugs are produced by culturing antibody-producing cells. Chinese hamster lung cells (CHL-YN cells) are being studied for their ability to produce antibodies over the commonly used CHO-K1 cells. Recent discoveries have shown that organic/inorganic compounds in culture medium can effect antibody production and quality. Explore how LC-MS/MS and ICP-MS can be used to analyze inorganic and organic elements in both culture medium and culture supernatant of a CHL-YN antibody producing cell lines.
Multi-Component Analysis of Heavy Metals in Various Foods Using AA, ICP, ICPMS & EDX
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identifies chemical hazards as serious threats to the food supply. Heavy metal contamination is among the many chemical hazards included in the official FDA guidance documents. Chemical contamination can be introduced at any stage in food production and processing. Heavy metals (e.g., cadmium, arsenic and mercury) can contaminate foods through agricultural practices or the use of contaminated soil or water. Additionally, heavy metals from equipment, containers or utensils can leach into food during processing and production.
Analysis of Tap Water and Drinking Water by ICPMS-2030
The normal daily water consumption of adults is thought to be around 2 liters, almost all of which consist of drinking water such as tap water or mineral water. Each country has regulations that require testing of the safety and condition of drinking water. Items tested for include high concentration elements such as sodium and calcium that are present at 10 mg/L or higher, and trace elements such as arsenic and lead that are present at 10 μg/L or lower. Consequently, analytical instruments are required to perform a wide range of measurements with high sensitivity, where it is preferred the items to be tested are done so simultaneously.
Analysis of Trace Elements in Water by EPA Method 200.8 Using the Shimadzu ICPMS2030
This application note describes the methodology and use of the Shimadzu ICPMS-2030 ICP mass spectrometer for the analysis of trace elements in drinking and fresh waters following the EPA 200.8 method. This method is also used for analysis of wastewater. Here, we demonstrate the stability and sensitivity of the ICPMS-2030 for EPA 200.8 analyses.
