Great product.
Life science, cell therapy research
While using the Corning Elplasia plates, almost all the cells aggregated nicely and the spheroids created pronounced protrusions/buds. The Corning Elplasia plates with less adhesion properties allow the spheroids to change shape more freely. Since plate surface quality is a key parameter I use Corning Elplasia plates for my experiments.

Enable high-density, scaffold-free, self-assembly spheroid formation, culture, and analysis in a standard plate footprint.
Elplasia plates are 3D cell culture microplate, featuring a microcavity technology that enables high-volume spheroid formation, culture, and analysis using microcavity technology.
Elplasia plates are compatible with many cell types and may be used across many applications including; drug screening, including high throughput screening (HTS), cancer/tumor biology, stem cell biology, cell therapy research and 3D tissue engineering.
High-throughput screening of 3D cell cultures with multiple high density scaffold-free spheroids for cancer toxicity studies
In this application note, Molecular Devices demonstrates the use of the Elplasia 96-well plates with a 3D culture workflow that includes spheroid generation, compound treatment, cytotoxicity assay, high-content imaging on the ImageXpress® Micro Confocal High-Content Imaging System, and 3D image analysis using MetaXpress® High-Content Image Acquisition and Analysis Software. The ability to easily generate multiple spheroids and to seamlessly integrate the workflow with high-content imaging promises to have significant applications in drug discovery and compound toxicology.
Spheroids vs. organoids: What’s the difference?
In this infographic, explore the advantages and disadvantages of using spheroids and organoids for the creation of complex, in-vivo-like three-dimensional models, and discover which will work best for your research.
Corning Elplasia plates for assays with multiple spheroids per well
It has been well established that 3D cancer models are more reflective of the in vivo tumor microenvironment when compared to traditional 2D models. Here, Corning Life Sciences demonstrates how Corning® Elplasia® 96-well plates can reproducibly form ovarian cancer spheroids that can be used for luminescent, fluorescent, and high-content imaging assays.
